Decided to get a bite to eat before the show started at the Maine State Music Theater not too far away. Found this Tavern. It was a nice day, so we decided to eat outside. The food was good and the portions were generous. I'd eat there again if I am in the area again.

We arrived in Brunswick about 8:00pm and by the time we checked into our hotel, most restaurants were closed. But, thankfully, not Joshua's Tavern. It is a casual place with wonderful food - we split a haddock sandwich and fries (half regular & half sweet potato) - everything was very good. Service was very friendly. We had planned on returning the next day for lunch, but ended up eating in another town. Will eat there again if we ever return to Maine.

Best Lobster Roll in Maine! Had a great lobster roll and my wife had the crab roll! We shared a Greek salad and enjoyed the wait attention of Kristen. Joshua's always has had good food and good service. Informal & eclectic atmosphere! A good take!

We have been to Joshua's three times in the last 5 months. The first time was New Year's Eve with friends. We shared a couple of gourmet pizzas and pitchers of beer and it was a really fun and relaxing evening.
The second time my husband and I hung out at the bar and ordered pizza and our own version of gourmet pizza and again had a really fun time chatting with the bartender. Just this weekend we went to Joshua's for an early dinner with our teenage daughter. We ordered potato skins, a large Greek salad and the Grecian pizza. The potato skins were somewhat crispy and served with melted cheese and bacon and sour cream - a tasty appetizer. Unfortunately the Greek salad was unacceptable and we had to ask our waitress to return it to the kitchen. The salad was very wilted and drenched in dressing and the feta cheese was mixed in with the salad. As a result, the salad didn't look good or fresh at all. The waitress graciously asked my daughter if she wanted a caesar salad instead. Our daughter was actually very disappointed that we had to return the Greek salad since she had her heart set on it. If we had thought about it, we would have asked for a Greek salad prepared with romaine lettuce since our waitress informed us that the Greek salad greens mix was already premixed and she couldn't bring us a replacement Greek salad. (???) Our pizza was just not the same as what we had experienced before. Rather than than being somewhat crispy and toasted on the bottom like a typical brick oven pizza, the pizza was somewhat undercooked, doughy and fairly bland. The miniscule pieces of chicken (little chunks) also detracted from the overall presentation. Now this may have been an off night or time to go. There was a private party going on at the time. It was disheartening to return to a local restaurant which we had recently rediscovered only to be disappointed. We have to watch our restaurant budget, so we like our meals and dining experience to meet or exceed our expectations. The caesar salad at $5.50 for a small salad didn't seem to be a very good value. The potato skins with bacon were $6.99 and the large gourmet pizza was $12.99. The beer was reasonably priced at $4.00 per pint. Our waitress was very gracious and attentive. I actually prefer either the bar seating towards the back or the right side of the restaurant as compared with sitting towards the door as you first enter the restaurant. The decor was fairly dark and not really inviting, though the curtained windows looking out to the street were a nice touch. Hopefully our next experience will be more satisfying.

Had dinner here on our first night in Brunswick. Recommended by staff at our hotel. It was extremely noisy, which I guess is to be expected in a tavern on a Friday night. The food was good, service was very good, prices were reasonable.
