“interview and visit!”
Reviewed July 19, 2013

Very taken with this small school. A bit too out of the way, but stays on the list! Lives up to it's reputation as friendly and competetive.

“Bowdoin International Music Festival”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

Bowdoin hosts this event annually. As I understand it, it is a six week summer study for outstanding young musicians. Part of the studies involve student performances. The performances are called Artists of Tomorrow but they are definitely artists today. Since we would be in Brunswick during the festival we planned to take in a performance if time allowed. Well we stayed for two hours, saw nine pieces, and it was the highlight of our stay. My husband looked up bios afterwards and the impassioned young musicians already have quite impressive resumes. If you like classical music and young people, this is a must. There us a suggested donation which is collected as you enter the building, so you decide if there is a fee or not. The auditorium we were in, Studzinski, is a marvel in itself. If near Brunswick in July don't pass up this opportunity.

“Great art museum”
Reviewed June 30, 2013

As a resident of Brunswick a few years ago, I used to take the kids to the art museum on campus during vacations. It's free (donations accepted) and they have a lot to offer. There is also a fun little museum shop with lots to offer.

“One of Maine's Cultural Meccas”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

This highly selective, nationally renowned, liberal arts college puts Brunswick on the map as a great place to visit and to live. It's not on the Atlantic Ocean, but near it. There's plenty of free on-campus and off-campus parking. It's just a short walk from the new Brunswick Amtrak station and the town's main drag. Much of the campus is nestled among the stately Bowdoin Pines. Located in a densely settled part of town, the college and its environs are certainly pleasant, but not especially picturesque. Some edifices may interest avid photographers. The college offers nearly non-stop cultural activities when college is in session. Lectures open to the public occur regularly. The campus's two museums make the campus worth a visit anytime they're open. The better one is the art museum.

“Fabulous school and cultural resource for the area”
Reviewed March 5, 2013

The campus is beautiful and full of activity. There are eateries on campus open to the public and a terrific value! There are two museums and performances frequently.
