Wonderful owners. Knowledgeable, helpful and very professional.
Beautiful updated rental in perfect condition with all amenities.
Lovely view of harbour from a spacious deck.Close to all amenities and centrally located for day trips to St John’s or numerous day hikes. No reason to look any further, this is the perfect place to vacation,
I loved this spot at first site. The thoughtfulness put into equipping the Nest was obvious. Made it so easy to be there. And soooo comfortable. Lovely touches throughout. The view was spectacular and couldn’t wait to get up in the morning to peer out to the harbour and beyond. Absolute, pure peace. The hosts were available, kind and helpful. Hope to be back.
Petty Harbour is the perfect place, 15 mins out of St. John's but a world away in terms of atmosphere and sites. Its a working fishing harbour. Yet close enough to all that St. John's offers. Shorelark Nest is the perfect 1 bedrm 2 person accommodation with a spectacular view of the harbour and ocean. Modern amenities with a home like feel. All you could need is in the unit.Owners, Karen & David are wonderful and great to communicate with in terms of needs or recommendations!! Leaving these reviews is sometime hard in that you want to keep this jewel to your self but as a business for them it means the word to them so , Dam it , I highly recommend it!!
The word for our stay in Petty Harbour and the Upper Nest: serendipity. We were unable to find a place to stay in St. John’s, so went looking a little further afield. And what a find– Shorelark by the Sea - a perfect base for our adventures on the peninsula– from sunrise over the harbour, through our count-the-whales sightings, to the peacefulness of the evening–pink skies over the bluff reflecting on the water! As for the Upper Nest – wish our home was as well thought out– everything we needed for our stay and more. Thanks so much to Karen (for directing us when the GPS didn’t!) and David for the overview of the must see and do’s!
I was on the east coast trail and needed some days to rest. Throug a coincidence I found this rental house. I met the owners Dave and Caren. Two wonderful people that would help you with every problem you have during your stay. They offered me to drive me to the store if I needed to buy something. But not because I asked them but because they really do want to make your stay a pleasant experience. I was 3 nights in the guest house and one night in the nest. From the nest you have a awesome view on the harbour. In the morning you can see the fishing boats leaving the harbour. Petty harbour is a genuine fishing town. After first night I didn't want to return on the trail and just wanted to stay in Petty Harbour the rest of my holidays. An amazing restaurant and a marvelous Cafe just few meters away. Two owners that even invited to me their little party with their friends. During my stay I felt like I was home in Petty Harbour.
When you don't want to live in the city of St John's and want to get the real new foundland feeling you definitely should stay in Petty Harbour at the Seaside Rentals.
What a beautiful, picturesque little fishing village on the sea. We enjoyed our stay and took many pictures. Shorelark by the Sea is so quaint and cozy. We loved it here! Be sure to read Alan Doyle’s book while looking at the harbour. It comes to life!

We loved coming here at the end of the day as your ‘Nest’ and Petty Harbour seem to hold the very best of all we took in. Thanks for providing the perfect ‘Nest’ for our first time to Newfoundland. We loved every moment of our touring all the beautiful coves and harbours. We loved coming here at the end of the day as your ‘Nest’ and Petty Harbour seem to hold the very best of all we took in. We were blessed with great people, great views, large and small icebergs, whales, puffins, and great food–and nice photos and remembrances to take home. We appreciate the great outfitting of this perfect ‘Nest’ and all the good information along the way. Praying God’s best to you in your adventures. In Jesus’ love, Elise and Ted.
