The fare is based on local fare. The service was excellent. Our server and hostess were charming. Our table of four enjoyed the fish entrees the best. The Greek lemon soup can't be missed. Sancerre wine was exceptional. Overall, a great dining experience. We will definitely be back again.

While on vacation we asked some locals for restaurant suggestions. We received several and tried each one. Bucks wad the worst of all of them we ate out 12 times and we would rank Bucks as number 13. The only bright spot was our bubbly waitress.

This restaurant in very rurral Maine is always wonderful. John Chase, the owner , is very attentive and an excellent chef. All the dishes are excellent but I tend to gravatate to the fish but had an excellent hangar stake a year ago. Reservations are a must.

We try to go to Buck's a few times each season. They use local produce, meat and fish. We started with a olive and cheese plate and charcuterie platter, both very good. The prices for entrees are all under $28 and most including the flat iron steak are under $24. That includes a pile of seasoned mashed potatoes and local garden vegetables. The Diver Scallops and the pasta were also incredible. We finished with a big piece of chocolate cake and a piece of Coconut pie (both homemade) Great service also.

What a treat to find this excellent restaurant tucked around behind Buck's Harbor Market. The food was delicious (salad, salmon and blueberry crostata a la mode for me; red house wine, jambalaya and chocolate mousse for Sandy). The hostess was very accommodating. Our server was engaging, personable and swift. She was particularly cautious about my allergy to shellfish. The atmosphere is tasteful and relaxed. We booked return reservations before leaving.
