We went for our honeymoon, from 20th Sept till the 4th Oct. The first week the weather was pretty rubbish,we knew when we booked it could rain as its hurricane season, second week much better!

The hotel was great, we had a normal suite (werent forking out an extra £1000 on what we had already spent!!) Although if we had the money, i think they would be well worth it!! Room was lovely, always clean, fresh towels etc. The bathroom, yes their wasnt much privacy, but it states this clearly in the brochure, and we didnt find it much of a problem.

We were usually up pretty early so didnt have a problem getting sun loungers. Wasn't wowed by the beach, it was nice, but have seen nicer in places like Cuba.

Food...I am so fussy its terrible. But the food here is great!! I always found something. Loved the Himitsu and Italian and World Cafe great for lunch and breakfast.

Ths staff here are fantastic, really couldnt do enough for you, they always say hello etc.

Spa was fantastic!!!! Well worth the monsy and the money off vouchers came in well handy!!

One annoying thing was the pool volleyball....ole ole ole ole!! Arghhh! Not my idea of relaxing romantic fun!!

Overall great honeymoon, 2 weeks just a bit too long xx

This is our second time to Mexico and we were very disappointed in this hotel. Not the 5 star we read the reviews about. We paid for the exclusive club and all that got you was a private lounge. If you didn't go down to the pool or beach before 8:30 you wouldn't get a spot to sit in. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired around the pool. Each morning there were cigarette butts around the pool and fruit from the drinks left on the ground! We actually observed people smoking in the pool! Not the classy place we thought we were going to. The staff also were not very helpful. One morning I was struggling to get the umbrella up and a staff member just watched. The bathrooms in the room also had no privacy. Let's just say you could hear everything going on in the bathroom as there was no door knob on the bathroom or shower door and there was no wall separating the bed to the bathroom (due to the tub) so if you turned on the bathroom light, the entire room would light up! The only plus was the beach was beautiful. Next time we go back to Mexico, we're going back to El Dorado Royale. That was a first class hotel with very friendly employees, good food and very clean and you could always get a seat by the pool! Wish we had gone back to the El Dorado instead but wanted to give another hotel a chance. Big Mistake!!

In short, this was the best vacation I have ever been on! It was out honeymoon and we were greeted with a honeymooners banner, fresh flowers, champagne and a nice letter. Frow that day we were treated as first class guests from the room service, to bartenders, to the staff that passed us everyday with a friendly "hola"! the grounds are lush, meticulously maintained and stunning. You are served drinnks everywhere, the pool, the lobby, the beach...it was truely a relaxing paradise from beginning to end! there were fun activities such as pool bingo and volleyball as well as wine and tequila tastings.

Suggestions:
-Eat at Portifino and MAKE RESERVATIONS for hibatichi at Himitsu...both places are mind blowing
-that sugar reef bar sucks but the lobby bar is by far the best!
-on a busy day, make sure to hold down a spot with a towel at the pool by 10am...
-chairs under palapas are nearly impossible to get after 2pm!
-stay away from the room service pizza! its not what you think. but you didnt come to mexico for pizza did you??
-get to the World Cafe for breakfast! dont get room service everyday....make sure you get out and enjoy these amazing meals!
-couples, take a walk of the property at night, its amazing
-BRING BUG SRAPY! 3 days back in the states and im still red all over..

All in all, we have already started to plan a couples trip there next year, thats how much we cant wait to come back...its an incredibly romantic and perfect place to honeymoon, i suggest it to any couple. lots of other friendly honeymooners and couples of all ages to meet! And no kids running all over the place...sorry to say that was one of the best parts...just friendly fun adults to share a great experience with!

Just back from a week at Secrets Maroma. Had a swim-up in building 12. Perfect location. Room was amazing. Beach was the best I have ever seen. Pool was grandiose. Food was excellent. Drinks were a plenty. The service was out of this world!

Congratulations to all the staff for making us feel like a million bucks! I will recommend and surely come back to Secrets Maroma
