“Exceeded all of our expectations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2011

My husband and I stayed at Secrets Maroma Beach with another couple March 15-22. We arrived at 10am and had a very warm welcome. Our friend wasn't feeling well on the plane ride down and Apple Vacations called ahead to the hotel to advise them of this. They recognized the name and said that they had their room ready in case he wanted to lie down. They then drove all 4 of us to their room in a golf cart.

With our son we have stayed at Dreams Punta Cana, Dreams Riviera Cancun and Iberostar Rose Hall Suites in Jamaica. For adults only vacations we have stayed at Secrets Punta Cana, Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica, Adventura Palace in Riviera Maya and what used to be Sandals Dunn's River. This was by far our favorite resort!!!

There are too many things to name everything that made this resort stand out from the others. As everyone else has reported, the service and attentiveness by the staff is over the top. The entire property was amazingly clean. I never saw any garbage, dirty ash trays, dirty dishes or glasses by the pool for more than a few minutes before someone swooped in and picked them up. The chairs and beds by the pool were in good repair and very comfortable. We seemed to be the first people down at the pool so finding a chair was never a problem. They did a good job of moving people's belongings if they were gone for more than 40 mins.

For an all-inclusive, the food was very good. We went to all of the restaurants except for the French restaurant - Bordeaux. Our least favorite was probably El Patio, the Mexican restaurant. Oceana was one of our favorites! We absolutely loved the food delivered poolside every afternoon. World Cafe breakfasts were fabulous. The omelets and crepes made to order as well as all the fresh fruit were favorites.

We only went to one evening show, so I can't really offer a review on that. We participated in pool volleyball and the guys played in the ping pong and dart tournaments. The entertainment staff was very friendly and I didn’t feel like they were at all pushy. The guys seemed to take a particular liking to Cici and Giovanna! Gaspar was our favorite pool waiter.

We really have nothing negative to say at all. If I was forced to find a fault, we didn't like the hamburgers. If you can't find something good to eat, then it's definitely you and not the resort. We tipped the bartenders, waiters, bell staff and maid service. They never acted like they expected it and were very thankful for the gesture. They all definitely deserved the tips for their amazing service.

I would return to this resort in a heartbeat, but we promised our son a family vacation in 2012. You will not be disappointed if you book this resort! Enjoy!

From the moment we arrived until we left, we were treated like royalty! The pour excellents brands and the food was top notch. The beach is wonderful for sitting on, you can take long walks on the beach and also nice sandy entry into the beach. Lots of palapas on the beach. Really nice pool area with lots of spots for sunning and also lots of shady spots as well as umbrellas. Servers bring around small finger foods around lunch time at botht he beach and the pool and you can always spot someone who will bring you your favorite drink. The spa is a very wonderful experience and the deep tissue massage was great!

The service and friendly demeanor of the entire staff is second to none! The hotel and entire grounds are immaculate. We weren't on the beach the first time for a minute before a friendly staff member asked for our drink requests! Several minor suggestions: we stayed in a junior swim-out suite but probably wouldn't during a future stay. The water was quite cold in the swim-out pool and since it's quite shaded for semi-privacy, it wasn't super enjoyable during the low 80 degree days. I didn't notice hardly any guests using their swim-out pools. During the hot summer months, it might be more enjoyable though. The only thing I was disappointed in was the fact that snorkeling is listed as part of the all-inclusive activities. However, we had to pay approx $45 each for a 1 hour snorkeling trip out the reef about a mile off shore. This was sponsored by the watersport activity group who is onsite but charges extra for their water activities which are not included in your hotel stay (jet skis, etc.). The snorkeling trip was fun and our guide was friendly and professional, although we didn't see quite as much as I had hoped (not sure if that was pure bad luck or if we should have chosen a different tour). I can't say enough about the beach itself - the beautiful white powder sand never gets hot (at least in March) and the beach itself is very clean. And the entire staff was exceptional!

We stayed at Secrets for 4 nights over our spring break. We had never experienced an all-inclusive before, and we now feel as if we are ruined forever. The staff at Secrets was so attentive to every single detail, that we can't imagine being better treated anywhere. Every single interaction with the people who worked there was a treat - from Sandra (our personal concierge) to Adolfo (our entertaining chef at Himitsu) and all the helpful bartenders and servers during our stay were so friendly and so warm. If you are looking for a short-term relaxing getaway, this is a fantastic choice. We are already planning on coming back...

We stayed at Secrets Maroma Beech from March 12th to 23rd. It is stunning, the staff look after you wherever you go on the resort. Elizabeth our concierge was excellent and nothing was any trouble for the staff. The food and drink was very good (the only negative being that I would have preferred a little more choice), room service menu is fantastic. The grounds are amazing and the beech truly gorgeous. If I could make just one suggestion it would be the evening entertainment - it felt a little bit "Butlins Holiday Camp" type to me and my partner but apart from that it was a truly fantastic resort. PS I agree with the other reviews we had to have the engineer come most days to fix our hot water as it was always luke warm or cold. Watch out for the small steps around the resort, when the sun is shining on them they seen to blend in to ground level and I fell over and hurt my foot, I saw a few people walking with plasters on their knees.... But it was a truly amazing holiday and location.

Well where to begin...this place is just amazing! Just got back from a 5 night stay in a junior partial ocean view room...we were in building 25 which was a great location midway between the beach and the lobby/restaurants...the room itself was very roomy and comfortable, very modern with everything you could need.....beach and pool area was beautiful, the service is the best I have ever experienced! Go visit Luis for lunch at the Seaside Grill and Freddy for breakfast at the World Cafe...the entire staff is very accommodating they will do anything for you! The food at all the restaurants was very very good...make sure to have a crepe for breakfast and the lobster at the French restaurant! We never had a problem finding good chairs at the pool or beach...we only went to one of the nighttime shows and it was ok...definitely visit Coco Bongo's while you are in the area...we reserved at the tours desk in the main lobby and got a good deal...the only thing I would make a complaint about would be the housekeeping service...most days we would get back from the beach around 3-4pm and our room would still not be cleaned yet! A quick call and they would be right there to clean it however....all in all a fabulous time, will definitely be returning in the future!
