Beautiful park. Climb the lighthouse it is well worthit. Ultimate maine experience. View is just like the postcards. All the volunteers are locals snd were very freindly gave us great tips on where the locals eat. That alone was worth the two dollar entry fee.

We have always loved Maine and this spot is one of the loveliest! The air is always fresh and clean, there are brisk sea breezes, the lighthouse is pristine and the grounds are clean and there are dramatic big rocks with crashing waves.....which just epitomizes the Maine seacoast! You can bring a picnic lunch and eat on the grounds or have a meal in the charming restaurant next door. This classic Maine lighthouse is a gem on the Pemaquid Peninsula!

Spending $2 for parking may be the money spent on the whole vacation. If you want to see the lighthouse on the Maine quarter, then this is it. Don’t pass it up! The little museum is nice and the volunteer staff is knowledgeable and committed.

It's a great place to go. It's gorgeous. Perfect. I mean, seriously. It is the ideal Maine lighthouse, on a perfect peninsula, and the walk around the rocks is magical to me.

First of all, though I don't know what kind of rock it is, I do know that even when wet, they are not slippery, so you can safely walk out on the point with kids. It's not easy since there's a lot of up and down, but you can. And if you go a bit to the right as you head out, there's a rocky beach with tide pools that always have something cool in them for the kids to mess around with. There is beach glass to be found there as well.

One time when we went out there, we saw a baby harbor seal just on the shore line. There are signs that say please not to interfere with the harbor seals and even a number you can call if you think one has gotten himself stuck up on the rocks and they'll come help him out.

The lighthouse has a little museum attached. Not much to it, but it's interesting to go through once anyway. And a ticket going into the parking lot will get you access to the top of the lighthouse and the very cool light up there -- and the view. The guy at the bottom who takes tickets, and with whom you may spend ten minutes or so if you have to wait at all, is an interesting guy who has loads of info for you. I've seen the same guy several times now, but I assume there are several who do that job.

There's a little shop at the bottom of the lighthouse, with posters, postcards, and a few other things, but for knick-knack shopping, you'll probably want to go to that little shop and cafe just outside of the lighthouse parking gate. I've never eaten there, but they've got the usual Maine gift selection. A few good books, especially for the kids, and on several occasions, I've been happy to get kites over at that shop and fly them on the peninsula with the kids. It' sa nice breezy spot for that! The kids love it.

I could spend hours sitting at Pemequid, listening to the waves crash over the rocks. This little attraction is beautiful and awe-inspiring. Take a tour of the museum, stroll through the art gallery, and climb to the top of the light house. Make time to sit out on the rocks and watch the tide come in and out and the sailboats go by. Before you leave, make sure you grab some ice cream next door at the shop! My favorite is the Moose Track Crunch, oh wait- the Bear Claw, oh my the S'more.. I had a triple dip:) fabulous!!
