we never got a chance to try it. The first thing that set the tone was arriving to a virtually empty parking lot. We parked and immediately the valet came over and told us we had to move, or leave the car unlocked with the keys in it.. There were literally 40 or 50 spaces around us, and maybe 6 cars... We chalked it up to a fluke and went in. The place was deserted except for 4 or 5 couples. The hostess immediately took us to a small table with no view of the water. I asked to be seated next to the water...there were a number of tables open. She grudgingly re-seated us... On a bright note, our server was excellent. Probably a bit embarrassed at the reception we had received and the deceptive menu...

I was thinking that the Prime rib would be a good choice, until I realized that the price was just for the prime rib. The sides, like poiato and vegetable were $10.00 each. We paid for our coffees, left a nice tip, and walked out politely, never to return. Sad, because this was the only restaurant we had not been to in 16 years of living in the Boothbay area.

We’re sorry to learn of your disappointing experience at Rocktide. Our goal is to provide an exceptional experience to each and every one of our customers at all times.
After 45 years in business, Rocktide is undergoing some much needed changes and updates that will help us move into the future. As with any transitional period, it can be bittersweet to embrace the future while remaining true to the past… The menu had not been changed in many years and with the rising cost of food, labor, energy, etc., we felt the need to make some updates, including providing sides on an a la carte basis for a nominal price. We have also added some delicious new items to expand our offerings. We very much appreciate your constructive feedback and we would love to have the opportunity to make it up to you on your next visit! Please get in touch with us at popover@rocktideinn.com.

The food was absolutely delicious and the ambiance of the restaurant was top-shelf. If you enjoy model sailing ships, this is the place.

What a lovely restaurant, filled with intricate model ships, overlooking the harbor, Part of the restaurant requires men to wear jackets which is a bit old school. But most of the restaurant is devoted to the rest of us casual diners. Huge cozy bar, with club chairs, and another library room, to enjoy your cocktails. The seafood was excellent, one of us had the fishermans feast feature a selection of fried clams, scallops, haddock and shrimp.....the portion easily could be two meals. On our second visit we ordered the appetizer version which was more then plenty! I had the broiled fishermans platter which was perfectly prepared, light and fresh. Our server, Sarah, was so delightful we asked for her the three times we ate here. Really a wonderful experience each time.. Even though the restaurant appears somewhat formal, it was very relaxed and comfortable.

Lovely waterfront "seasonal" restaurant in a vintage motel. The lobby has an interesting collection of model ships and the restaurant ambiance is quite nice. However, the idea that men must wear a jacket in order to be seated in the waterfront area located in full view and only a few steps from the the other diners is ostentatious on the part of this "seasonal" establishment. Very few men pack dinner jackets for vacation in a seaside village. This motel also hosts bus tours. I took notice that those people were assigned to a different level of accommodations and service. The motel management needs to make some changes or "at least" advise those who are staying at the motel that jackets are required for waterfront dining. Extensive menu, expensive entrees...do not order lettuce salads.
