You cannot beat the genuine hospitality of the owners here. I stayed here recently and felt very at home. Plus the breakfasts each morning are truly homemade and very delicious!
This B&B is a mix between a log cabin and a more traditional B&B. It doesn't have the typical frilly/girly feel that B&Bs often have due to the clutter of antiques and floral themes. It's much more masucline and rustic, yet still comfortable and quaint. Lovely old furniture, every room has a porch that looks toward the woods ... we heard Moose sounds each night from the porch.
You do have to drive a very short distance to get to town and to the harbor, but it's worth it because it's so pleasant - probably because it's not in the middle of everything.
I highly recommend Howard House!

Room Tip: Request the top floor. There are only 3 floors, but you get the best views from your porch.

We loved the big glass overlooking the lawn, plantings, and stone walls. Neat as a pin, and a breakfast reflecting
Ginny's expertise in the kitchen! The location is just far enough away from the hubub of Boothbay Harbor's waterfront in a peaceful setting. We'd definitely go back.

This B&B is simply awesome. The rooms were very nice, very clean and the wifi worked great. It was also one of the hottest weeks I've ever seen in Maine, and the rooms still stayed pretty cool. Each room had it's only balcony as well - which was very nice. Great price too!

The location for this place is great - its just north of the village, so close enough to go into Boothbay or East Boothbay, without being crowded when it was time to relax. It worked as a great base for our vacation, as it was close to everything we wanted to do.

The owners were very accommodating - every morning we had an amazing breakfast (it was really good!) - and were given some tips on local places to check out. Most of the other guests were regulars and came back often - I know that if I'm in the area again I'll certainly stay at the Howard House.

I stayed at this B&B for one night on a short weekend trip to Maine and couldn't be happier. The location is about 1.5 mi away from Boothbay Harbor, but I found that to be perfect because it is very quiet at night. Each room has a balcony that overlooks the forest, which gives it the feel of a lodge rather than a regular B&B. The location is ideal to take a good distance morning run into the harbor and do some exploring before spending the day in town. One of the best parts is the breakfast - it's one of the best I've had at any hotel (including some 4 and 5 star hotels), and the owners couldn't be friendlier and more helpful in giving tips on where to visit and eat nearby. I would definitely recommend this B&B and wouldn't hesitate to stay again on my next trip to Boothbay.

We only stayed one night at the Harrison House but it was well worth it. It was the opening of the season and everything was new, clean and in good repair. The room was large and comfy with a great balcony and lots of windows.

The room consisted of a queen bed (though other sizes were available) a desk as well as a armchair. The room was pretty standard except one wall was almost all windows with a balcony overlooking the front of the property. Our particular room viewd the driveway and road, but the others would look into the yard of woods behind the building. Not good for stargazing but it was nice and open just the same.

The breakfast was home made and tasty. The owners were very polite and helpful. At an offhanded mention of plans for they day both whiped out maps and gave lots of suggestions for places to see and go, routes to take etc. It was early in the season so most of the "activities" in the area weren't open yet, however there was still much to do.

The hotel itself was 15 minutes from shops and centrally located enough to make day trips worthwile. It was a quiet place so I wouldn't suggest it for a big party, but for the value it was well worth it.

We stayed at this B&B just outside Boothbay Harbor specifically because of the reviews here on TripAdvisor.
We were last-day guests, and thankfully, they had a room left for one night's stay, which was nice of them. Normally they request 2 night minimum, and the friendly staff accommodated us.

The king-size room was clean, comfortable, and cozy. The feel of the place is much like staying at a personal home. The balcony had flower boxes, there was a wood rocker and an upholstered glider chair, and a paved/flowered walk between the office and our room.

We showed up the second day of Howard House's opening, so there was a few "fixers" from the winter. Wireless was not working, which is unfortunately a big deal for a techie like myself. A couple of the lights -to include the balcony and one of the inside lights- were not working. These were the reasons for the 4 rating.

The real jewels of our stay was Ginny and her breakfast. The fully organic breakfast was made with care, with touches of gourmet greatness. Jim and Ginny were not just friendly and accommodating, they can provide several pieces of advice about some of the best local places to see.and do, and not just in Boothbay.

We believe our stay was more a fluke than standard. We were happy with our stay, will be returning guests, and loved the area. This was a great value, but more than that, a very good opportunity to relax.

We were in Boothbay Harbor in August for a short trip of Maine. It was season then, but Ginny was nice to let us stay only one night. We are glad she did. This B&B was heavenly. We came in after an exhausting long drive and were very happy with our cozy room. It was one of the nicest rooms we've stayed in--large, clean and comfortable with a lovely deck overlooking the woods. Beautiful flowers and landscaping. Quiet. And the breakfast--wow! It was delicious and so elegant. Ginny is a wonderful cook and innkeeper. Everything at Howard House Lodge was done just right with special touches everywhere. The location was excellent--and the lodge was a real value compared to other inns/hotels closer to the water. Boothbay Harbor was a great place to experience Maine, and we hope to come back and spend more time there and at the Howard House Lodge.
