This was the first time staying at a B&B in Maine and it was delightful. We had one of the rooms on the third (top) floor, which had its own bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet.

The breakfasts were great. The signature blueberry muffins were tasty. We even took some with us as a snack for later in the day.

After a day of sightseeing, we enjoyed the hot beverages and slices of cake or other treats that were available in the evenings.

Tom and Monica were very friendly and helpful. We greatly appreciated their suggestions of things to do and places to eat as well as driving directions.

We highly recommend this B&B and would stay with them again.

In a word extraordinary. We stayed in Room 6, wonderful room, king size bed, the only room with an air conditioner, but it also had a ceiling fan over the bed. Private bath. Very cozy and comfortable. The Inn sits high atop Boothbay Harbor, yet you can walk to the town. Views from the wrap around deck and breathtaking. We also had breakfast on the deck; fresh fruit, warm muffins, baked French toast with strawberries. Monica was a most warm and gracious hostess.

Beautiful old house at the top of a hill in Boothbay Harbor, within 4 minute walk of restaurants and shops, but with spectacular view off the porch of the harbor itself. Comfortable spacious room with very comfortable king-size bed and our very own porch for late afternoon nap. Great breakfast with the best blueberry muffins in Maine. ...and home-made oatmeal cookies and tea in the late afternoon!

The Harbor House is a wonderful Bed and Breakfast, located in Boothbay, ME. The Inn offers beautiful accommodations on top of the hill overlooking the harbor. We just returned from a 4 night stay at Harbor Hill and this truly was a wonderful B&B although, I guess no trip is truly long enough as the days just flew by. The innkeepers Monica and Tom at Harbor Hill boasts genuine hospitality, along with superior service and comfort, all in a beautiful setting ~ Very quiet and serene, with most rooms and the porch having views of the harbor. This charming romantic Bed and Breakfast is the perfect choice for getaways and vacations in Maine.

Monica and Tom, will provided you with information on local activities and guide you on things to see and do around the area. From the time you walk through the door and are greeted by these wonderful friendly & caring innkeepers Monica & Tom, you will feel at home. The amenities offered during your stay are great and truly add to making you feel at home. Knowing you can just get a hot beverage and a snack at anytime during the day is nice. Each day you will find a homemade dessert that is put out for you to enjoy, which is a nice added touch when relaxing. Only thing (for me anyway) that was missing was cream for the coffee or tea. Suggestion: would be nice to have some cold beverages available in the refrigerator. (i.e. pitcher of ice tea, soda)

A welcome basket of goodies can be found in your room upon arrival making for a nice special added touch. Our room (#5) and the entire Inn is kept up and is immaculately clean, with breath taking views that are absolutely beautiful.
Breakfast is SUPER with a different hot item each morning during your stay, served with some great delicious homemade breads, muffins, fruit, cereal, yogurt, etc. daily. You will have that nice relaxing feeling, either sitting and having breakfast on the wrap around porch or just hanging out in the common room downstairs.

While staying you can enjoy boating, fishing, kayaking, wealth of sights, sounds and scents to savor-the lobster wharves, with clams and mussels steaming on the dock; the gulls' distinct cries; the tingle of sun and salt on your skin; the cooling relief of an onshore breeze and the pleasant expectation of a succulent lobster dinner served with drawn butter or just simply relax. No trip is complete with a trip to the Boothbay Lobster Wharf: http://www.boothbaylobsterwharf.com/.

You are in easy walking distance to the village area where you will find antique shops, and restaurants. The restaurants are plentiful and varied, and the food is delicious. Just note that you will have a hill to climb on the return trip back to Harbor House.

Take a boat cruise, there are a few different ones to pick from...I would recommend the Burnt Island Lighthouse tour http://www.maine.gov/dmr/burntisland/index.htm. and the Cabbage Island Clambake http://www.cabbageislandclambakes.com/. You are only a short drive to the Boothbay Railway http://www.railwayvillage.org/ which I also would recommend. There is a great Village Vehicle Exhibit that contains over 50 antique cars and is a showroom not to be missed on your visit to the Boothbay Railway.

So if you’re looking for total peace & relaxation, you’ve found it here!!

Monica & Tom are wonderful; I know you'll enjoy meeting them and staying at their wonderful Inn. We highly recommend this Inn.

Enjoy!!

I posted this in the forum, but realized I should post it as a review where more accessible...

We recently stayed at the Harbor House in early June and loved it! They had just opened for the season and we were the first guests. The house is situated at the top of the hill in town, very easily walkable and has great views of the harbor. Monica was a delight, very helpful.

The room (considered the smallest) was quite spacious (compared to our apartment in Boston and inns on Nantucket) and had a queen sleigh bed. The bathrooms are private. The one downfall would be that the tv was quite old (bunny ears) and we really only got one or two channels. Not a bad thing, but we wanted to check the weather and watch the Sox play.

Quite a spread in the morning for breakfast...we weren't counting on that and enjoyed it on the porch.

Overall, we highly recommend this B&B... our wedding guests are staying here this summer and we're thrilled to be able to tell them.

We stayed here for 2 nights recently (June 2008) and can't give a higher recommendation for a B&B. Very quiet and serene, located on top of a hill with most rooms and the porch having views to and over the harbor. The B&B is located on McKown Avenue, alongside several other inns, and is literally a 2 minute walk down the hill into the town center -- so you don't need to take your car if you are spending the day or doing activities in town. The owners, Tom & Monica, are wonderful and very personable. The breakfast is a yummy buffet, with a hot entree (our 1st day it was french toast on homemade bread, and the 2nd day they had a professional waffle maker that you could make your own, with fresh berries, Maine maple syrup and whipped cream). And in the evening there's always something from the kitchen that they've made (cookies or cake) available. I'm sure there are a lot of great inns to stay at in Boothbay Harbor, but this is one we wouldn't hesitate for a second to return to again and again.

We have stayed every summer for about 5 years. It's a favorite family destination. Monica and Tom treat us like family. We look forward to our annual trek north. The in-town convenience is perfect, the accommodations are comfortable, the view from the porch is beautiful. We love it!
