“Burnt Island a challenge...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 15, 2014

The lighthouse and island are lovely and the volunteers have coordinated a wonderful tour, full of info and history. The down side is...especially at low tide, the ramp from the boat dock is a challenge to anyone who has trouble walking - nearly vertical. I was concerned that my hubby was going to "go into the drink". Then the hike up the hill to the lighthouse itself presented another challenge. Fortunately they did have a golf cart to transport him to the top, but that boat ramp was "iffy". Something folks might want to consider before making this trip.

“Wonderful teacher retreat”

I spent three days on the island for a writer's workshop. The sight, sounds, smell and touch if this small island are refreshing. Treat yourself to a visit.

“Boat trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

Friends and I took a trip from the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath. Brought our lunch to the island and was able to walk around the grounds to see what this place is like. Met with the caretakers. A must see for lighthouse lovers!

Wonderful location. Great, realistic interpreters of a lighthouse keeper and his family life on the island

“Very interesting”

Like it all. The real deal when it comes to lighthouses and how they were manned. Facinating local history. You also have the run of the place which is very nice.
