This was a little taste of the old days. Not just because the re-enactors gave us a dramatic monologue about the life of a light house keeper and his family, but because you got the distinct impression that a kid growing up in Boothbay Harbor can still live the wholesome existence of the 50's and 60's. What a great summer job for a pre-teenager!

There's a little beach on the side of the island facing the Spruce Point Inn...it's FULL of sea glass. We spent hours out there and came home with bags and bags of it.

WE visited twice - once by boat and once by kayak to see the lighthouse, hike, peek at the osprey nest and search for seaglass. A $3 donation (5 per family) was extremely reasonable for all the work of the staff to make this available to the public. Well worth a visit for kids/families or adults.

We took an hour and explored this little island. It was serene and peaceful. Also great for photos. Didn't have any children but educational center on the island looked very nice. It's a very pleasant way to spend a few hours relaxing and watching the water.

Interesting tour of a historic, inhabited lighthouse. A top family outing that is a short trip from town.
