Perfect combo of gorgeous view (3rd floor deck) and great food. Their chowders are hearty and filling and their seafood is well prepared - the paella is delicious. We're in Maine for the seafood, so can't attest to the non-seafood dishes. Skip the stuffed peppadews - not bad, there are just more delicious items on the menu for an appetizer.

We recently enjoyed dinner outside at the Bistro. They offer a huge selection of cold and hot tapas, grillers (panini style sandwiches) and paella. We enjoyed the Lobster Corn Cakes, Prawn and Cheese Grits and Beet Salad. The Deconstructed Coconut Shrimp was outstanding. The sliders were good. Our only complaint was the burger, ordered medium rare, which came out medium well. Our server, Jill, replaced it within minutes. We try to come here every summer when we vacation in the area. Choose the top deck in warmer weather to take advantage of the view of the harbor. The owners also run McSeagull's (very good and open year round) which is just a few steps away. They also recently opened Mine Oyster next door to McSeagull's which we haven't tried yet. The Bistro is open well into the fall but (sadly) closes for winter. Worth a visit!

The best part was the partial view from the top deck on an amazing weather day. The rest of the experience not so much.

We just stopped in for drinks and a snack mid-day. The service and food where just ok, and over priced. The deck is really small, tight seating area, beat down and really needs a powerwasher cleaning. Its an interesting mix of customers as well. A lot of people around us that acted like someone owed them something.

We left this place, and went back to the smaller towns a few minutes north and had a much better time.

While vacationing in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, we stumbled into this restaurant for dinner. I had Thai style halibut with curry sauce (not spicy or burning at all) and my wife had scallops. The appetizer was hummus with veggies and naan. We ate on the terrace, and it was great! So much so that we returned the next night, had the same appetizer and we each had salmon on a three cheese risotto, which was a little too much for my wife, but I loved it! Both meals were excellent and the service was great. Although we don't drink, there was a nice selection of wines. I'm sorry we couldn't go back again - there were more selections I wanted to try.

So we are here for a long weekend and we thought we would go to the pier and figure something out. What luck. After we passed the perfunctory lobster roll shantys and fried seafood shacks, we came upon "the Bistro" and we're so glad we did. A real gastronomic treat here in Maine and moderately priced. Dishes are prepared with local ingredients and local flair. The paella is more of a lobster meat, scallop, and mussel stew served over rice in a hot skillet. The rice continues to cook and the seafood stays hot. Sort of like Korean bimbimbap. Delicious! The fish dishes were fresh caught and prepared as you like. The small wine list was fairly priced and the service was excellent. This is a destination, so if you get up this way, don't miss it.
