Description: A piece of authentic Maine history, The Thistle Inn still stands as a place to gather and celebrate what makes life all the more worth living: great food, great company, and a home away from home. Originally built in 1861 for a prominent sea captain, our restaurant and Inn embody the unique period character of Maine’s past, with updated fixtures for modern comfort. From our seaside favorites to our world-class wine list, our menu is an exploration of classic coastal cuisine prepared with nature’s freshest ingredients. Guests looking to extend their visit will find six different lodging options at their fingertips, and the best of Boothbay Harbor just a short walk from their quarters. Whether it’s a meal that brings you to us, or an escape to our quaint Inn, we invite you to relax, stay awhile, and soak up some true downeast hospitality.

The halibut with cashew pesto was fabulous; a generous cut of fish, and beautifully seared. My husband equally loved his scallops over a delicious homemade creamed corn. The bread that was brought to the table was yeasty, and salted. Homemade strawberry buttermilk ice cream was the perfect ending. Efficient and friendly service. A wonderful and enjoyable meal.

Ate at the very cozy bar and the fish and chips were plentiful and delicious. The rest of the menu looked fabulous but I was in the mood for some Allagash beer and fish and chips.

My colleagues and I ate at the Thistle Inn on a recent night our from a conference and it was the BEST food we ate all week! It was a colorful presentation and unbelievable taste with each one of our food choices. We raved about the food all night! The atmosphere is also very cool. The building is an old sea captain's house dating back to 1850, and there is a unique "boat" bar. If you are in the area, you will not regret eating at this restaurant! Wonderful!

The truffle fries were delicious. Our waitress who appeared 9 months pregnant, looked a bit tired , and quite so , I let the service slide there.

Loved the dining on the outside deck. The food was outstanding so we ate there twice. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Highly recommend for dinner.
