Description: A piece of authentic Maine history, The Thistle Inn still stands as a place to gather and celebrate what makes life all the more worth living: great food, great company, and a home away from home. Originally built in 1861 for a prominent sea captain, our restaurant and Inn embody the unique period character of Maine’s past, with updated fixtures for modern comfort. From our seaside favorites to our world-class wine list, our menu is an exploration of classic coastal cuisine prepared with nature’s freshest ingredients. Guests looking to extend their visit will find six different lodging options at their fingertips, and the best of Boothbay Harbor just a short walk from their quarters. Whether it’s a meal that brings you to us, or an escape to our quaint Inn, we invite you to relax, stay awhile, and soak up some true downeast hospitality.

“Upscale dining in Boothbay...who knew?”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

This really is a lovely, lovely place. We opted to sit outside, and it was gorgeous. A beautiful evening, very intimate outdoor seating with beautiful tree lighting. After spending two weeks eating lobster and dining at all the casual, but delicious spots BBH has to offer, this was a real delight. I had the grilled Romaine salad, and mussels appetizer, both delicious. My husband, tiring of seafood, order the ribeye. Service was also first rate. I wish we'd thought to go to The Thistle earlier in our trip, we certainly would've gone more often.

“Great for small town, off season”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

The tuna tartar appetizer was unusual in being small pieces clumped together, but tasted good with the seawood on top. The crabcakes appetizer was simply the best we'd had in years. Bravo. The seared tuna entree was a bit too cooked and cold on serving, but tasted good. The scallops were sauteed in a port wine reduction --- I should have noticed that. They were cooked beautifully, but the sweet flavor was a bit off-putting. But all in all, a very good dinner, a bit pricey, service very good. We'll be back.
