did one of the trails - good thing we picked up a map at the entrance - still wound up in someone's back yard - we are experienced hikers/backpackers so we know how to follow blazes

We hiked Linekin Preserve, based on the recommendation of our B&B. I can't compare to the other trails, but this one was mostly forested with a brief river view. It was very peaceful and quiet.

I notice on the website this trail is listed as "challenging" - I do not consider myself a "hiker" at all, so as long as you are in halfway decent shape and comfortable with a few very short scrambles up/down hill, you'll be fine.

Bring bug spray!

Wonderful well maintained walking trails that snake around and around giving the birds a place to rest and us a chance to view the birds, beavers, and flowers of Maine. Well recommended.

We kind of stumbled into this place the last time we were in Boothbay because we had some questions about the fish that were jumping in the river near the house we rented. We found so much more. We got lots of info on trails and other places to visit and also got some of the other burning questions we have had over the years about the region answered. What a great organization and asset to the region and state.

Excellent trails maintained by the BRLT. Be sure to stop at their office on Townsend Ave to get advice about trail conditions. When we went it had been raining and the advice we got was excellent. Also the trail book mentioned in other reviews is not currently available (sold out). At the office or the web site be sure to print out the trail maps. Many of the trail heads do stock maps but to be sure you have one. We did the Ovens Mouth East, Porter, Linekin. All very interesting. The trails are pretty well marked and maintained.
