This was our first trip to New England. We stayed at 3 bed and breakfast inns in different states with the Topside Inn being our last. My wife and I agree that we saved the best for last. Brian and Ed were very attentive and gracious hosts. They made us feel very welcome like we were family. The breakfast was simple but delicious. We are still raving about the granola. Our room was tastefully decorated with a nautical theme and a beautiful view of the harbor. We would stay there again and will recommend this inn to any one.

Topside—The Inn On The Hill was a delightful place to stay on the coast of Maine. Brian had great recommendations for things to do and see and places to eat. It rained some while we stayed there, but the hospitality and warmth of the inn took away the chill. The breakfasts were memorable day-starters. Ed is a fantastic cook. The innkeepers make this inn inviting with meticulous attention to the details involved in making it restive, clean and helpful in letting us take in the best features of Boothbay.

Room Tip: Choose an end room if possible for view of harbor and to avoid hearing other guests.

This was the last stop on our 10 day tour of coastal New England and probably the best. Unlike many of our other stops, the Topside Inn more than lived up to it's publicity. The house was immaculately decorated and furnished, the room spacious and comfortable with a beautiful view (of the Schooner from Pirates of the Caribbean in the Harbour below), The host friendly but not overly obtrusive, the breakast high quality and the location a genuinely short stroll from the heart of the pretty village.

Although we were just in the off season, there were enough shops, restaurants and cafes open to provide a pleasant day's strolling and evening relaxing. In the summer it must be fantastic and buzzy and we would love to go back for a longer stay. We paid $195 per night plus tax

Room Tip: I would imagine the rooms are quite varied given the nature of the house so get details of the speci...

We had a wonderful time staying at the Topside Inn. If you are wishing to explore the Boothbay Harbor region. This B & B is in a great location to do so. Besides, you can't beat the breakfasts. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

We spent two nights at the Topside Inn in early October and were more than satisfied with the experience. The driving directions on their website were very helpful and led us right to the inn, where we were greeted cordially by Brian, who gave us a tour of the public areas and then showed us to our room on a hillside overlooking the harbor. The room was immaculate, comfortable, and quiet with all the amenities one expects in a B & B. Homemade cookies were on the counter, and a variety of snacks and a selection of hot teas were always available in the dining area of the main house. Ed prepared great breakfasts including homemade granola, fresh fruit, and the special of the day, which consisted of lemon blueberry pancakes with sausage one day and scrambled eggs with Canadian bacon on a biscuit with hollandaise sauce the second day. Coffee, both regular and decaf, was available from 7 am for early risers. All of the food was beautifully presented and appetizing.

One of the best things about the Topside Inn is its location, which is just a couple of minutes' walk from the hustle and bustle of the harbor with its restaurants, shops, and other activities. Town was noisy, but all was serene up on the hill. Brian and Ed have a very professional and well-run operation. Our stay at Topside Inn was thoroughly enjoyable, and we give it two thumbs up!

Going to New England in the fall was a dream trip for us, and staying at the Topside Inn, really made the trip special. The breakfasts were great-gingerbread waffles one day! It was nice to be so close to shops and restaurants and to be able to walk along the water every day. Our room was very nice with a good view and the views from the main building were fantastic. The two restaurants recommended by Brian were definitely worth it!

Room Tip: A room on the 2nd floor would have given us an even better view of the ocean.
