“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2011

We really enjoyed our two hour sail on the Schooner Eastwind. We sailed on a beautiful afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in a light to moderate breeze and the schooner moved smartly through the water. Our children enjoyed sailing more than I thought they might which made me very happy. My 8 year old son stood near the weather rail all the way back to the wharf. Even my 3 year old daughter wanted to stand next to her brother. I am really glad we decided to embark with Herb and Doris Smith on the Schooner Eastwind. We had a great afternoon sailing around Boothbay Harbor. This is an attraction that is not to be missed.

“Smooth, peaceful glide across the Bay”

First time on a schooner and it was wonderful. Dennis, our captain, kept us entertained and James was a fantastic first mate! It was like ice skating over smooth, glassy ice on a perfect July morning.

“Awesome sailing experience ...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2010

We were in Boothbay Harbor and wanted to take a sailboat tour on a beautiful July afternoon. We asked around and looked around and decided on the Eastwind, a beautiful wooden schooner. Herb and Dorris were the boat's hosts and were awesome at their "job." I say it that way, because it was obvious that they truly enjoy being out on the boat. A two hour trip on a sailing schooner is one of the most peaceful things you can do. The boat leaves from behind the Fisherman's Warf Inn on Boothbay Harbor, and sails out through the harbor, past Spruse Point (the Inn where we stayed), and around Ram Island. You'll pass Burnt Island light, see Cuckhold Light in the distance, and go very close to Ram Island Light. The gentle rocking of the boat and the complete silence will lull you into a relaxed state. Herb and Dorris give the history of the boat, their earlier boats and some of their sailing experiences, which include several trips around the world. Overall, it was a wonderful afternoon on Boothbay Harbor and beyond.
