“whale watching in comfort”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2012

We had a very nice time spotting whales. This was our second attempt, as the first time the boat wouldn't start but we were given a ticket and went back the next morning and had a great morning. Spotted whales and porpoises and seals.

“Whale watching”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 25, 2012

A great trip out (17 miles) to see fin back whales. We spent about an hour on sight watching the whales as they came up to breach while feeding. (We also saw a rare basking shark, plus lots of harbor seals also some osprey nests with chicks and lots of other sea birds. Our guide (the whale lady!) was most knowlegable and entertaining in dsecribing the habits of the various animals and birds we saw.
I would highly reccomend this trip we consider it the highlight of our trip to Maine.

“Wonderful Experience.. LOVED IT!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2012

We went out on July 16, 2012 and had a fantastic time.. we saw aproximately 10 whales as well as porpoises, and seals. The weather was fantastic, and the boat had many great viewing spots! We had a great view, and subsequently got a great video of a mom and her baby! I absolutely loved the experience, as did my family.. The ONLY negative I can say is.. the cost of parking there. Being a family of 10 going on the trip was a small fortune (but yes it was worth the cost of the trip) However, being a family of 10 we were also in 2 cars and by the time we realized that we had to pay an additional $20.00 per car to park there, we really did not have another option to go look elsewhere.. Being from out of the area we did not know till after that we could have parked right up the road for only $7.00 a car. I do wish Cap'n Fish's would take into consideration that families are already putting out a lot of money to go on the cruise, and it would be nice if they would either discount parking for those that have purchased tickets for whale watching or in situations like ours, where we have to have two cars to fit our family.. maybe do one car at no cost... Just a suggestion from a mom on a budget. I would reccomend this experience to anyone! It is a trip you will never forget!!

“Great day at sea...around 12 whales spotted”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2012

After reading several reviews we decided on Boothbay Whale Watch at 22 Commercial Street - website is www.whaleme.com. It we a fantastic experience. On the way out of the bay we saw a Minke whale to start the day. As we went farther out we experienced about 5 more Minkes and I believe 6 Finbacks. The naturalist was extremely knowledgeable and was unbelievable at spotting the whales and letting you know where to look. She was accessible to talk to one on one and very willing to answer all questions that we had. It was a warm day but we were told that it would be 10 to 15 degrees cooler on the water and I was very glad that I took a jacket. I would highly recommend Boothby Whale Watch to anyone that wants to whale watch. We also saw seals, porpoises and several kinds of birds. It was an outstanding experience.

“We saw Fin Whales”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 19, 2012

When the kids started to feel seasick, the lady at the bar gave them pretzels and ginger ale. Once we started to spot the whales everyone suddenly felt much better. We saw several Fin Whales very close to the boat in different areas. One swam right toward us and dived down under the boat.

I think they spotted some Minke Whales a little farther away but I missed them since it was right around the same time we were tracking down the Fin Whales.

On the drive back some of the kids with us got seasick. I feel like we've done it and had the experience but may not be taking the trip again due to the likelihood of seasickness if the seas are a little rought like they were.

I've done this trip before without the kids and have seen Humpbacks and Minke's.
