“All homemade delicious food in a squeaky clean cafe”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

Best homemade oatmeal that I have ever had ... With cinnamon, chopped pecans, milk and those Maine blueberries. Clean and cheerful atmosphere. The owner or manager was making sure everything was just right. My husband had pancakes that were perfect as well. I would have loved to have tried some of their homemade desserts but it was early morning us!

“Pancakes and Grilled English Muffin (and chowder)”
Reviewed June 19, 2012

Love this sweet cafe in BBH! The pancakes are so yummy (my dad loves the blueberry, but I am a plain girl) and (while it sounds crazy) I am not one to pass up a perfectly grilled English muffin. If you have never had one - the open part of the English muffin is buttered and has a crunch to it, while the bottom is soft and warm. YUM!!

Also have absolutely enjoyed a bowl of clam chowder on a chilly day!

“Not even just OK”
Reviewed June 18, 2012

There are three kinds of eateries in Boothbay Harbor: novelty foods like ice cream, fine restaurants typically catering to the night-life and breakfast/lunch cafes (that open early and typically close by 2PM). If a member of your party has mobility issues, always check to see how accessible an eatery is. Several require the customers’ mounting of a few stair-steps, or, 1-3 full levels of stairs to reach any seating area (geographically, the Boothbay Harbor area is “tight” on space. Therefore, eateries as all stores in the area tend to build “up”).

Bridge Street Café is a breakfast/lunch cafe and requires customers to climb a single-level of stairs to reach its seating, which, has a short view of an active pedestrian area, and, backs of buildings. Tables and chairs look cheap. We stopped for lunch—a menu that serves breakfast all day, and, lunch of mostly meat sandwiches. We ordered pastrami on rye and chicken Dijon sandwiches.

Food was delivered on wax paper over a plastic basket dish, served with underwhelming potato chips and pickles. For a bill of $32, consisting of sandwiches and ice teas around, we felt that the sandwiches were greasy, and, the amount of meat served for the price wasn’t worth what we paid. We left feeling that our eating experience was as plastic as the baskets on which the food was served. When in a place as special as Boothbay Harbor, customers really expect more. We gave this café a full 5 thumbs-down.
