I can see why this would be a high point for visitors to the charming Boothbay Harbor region of Maine. First of all, it is Maine, and then there is the succulent addition of an over the top lobster dinner. You cruise out on a private boat, pretty much chock a block with tourists. The cruise is informative and interesting, but the crowd seems to be murmuring lobster...lobster...lobster. So you arrive at the charming, privately owned island, choose your picnic spot and then the feast begins. The staff could not be nicer and the food is quintessential Maine...although in more sizable portions than usual. Two big lobsters (both delicious), steamers, corn, roasted onions, hardboiled egss, fish chowder, blueberry cake....an almost endless feast. By the time you are ushered back onto the boat, the total weight of the crowd has risen significantly. And you have spent a lovely day in Boothbay Harbor, Maine eating your heart out.
