This is one of our favorite stops in our yearly visits to Boothbay Harbor. Last night, Sept. 24, did not meet our expectations. Lois, our waitress, brought out two excellent Martini's and then went downhill from there. My wife ordered Maine Lobster and I went with a dish I have enjoyed in the past, a haddock prepared Mohegan style (a spiced breading mixture).
The lobster arrived without the drawn butter. By the time Lois managed to get the butter the lobster was getting on the cool side. My fish was overcooked and lacking the flavor I had remembered. We both order the squash side dish which seemed to have been served directly from the refrigerator. That was sent back to the microwave for treatment.
Our favorite desert is their blueberry pie served warm. The temperature was inconsistent throughout the piece. The pie was also cloyingly sweet, something we don't remember from past experience.
We usually eat here two or three times during the week we are here, but that is not going to be the case this year.
