This is one of our favorite stops in our yearly visits to Boothbay Harbor. Last night, Sept. 24, did not meet our expectations. Lois, our waitress, brought out two excellent Martini's and then went downhill from there. My wife ordered Maine Lobster and I went with a dish I have enjoyed in the past, a haddock prepared Mohegan style (a spiced breading mixture).

The lobster arrived without the drawn butter. By the time Lois managed to get the butter the lobster was getting on the cool side. My fish was overcooked and lacking the flavor I had remembered. We both order the squash side dish which seemed to have been served directly from the refrigerator. That was sent back to the microwave for treatment.

Our favorite desert is their blueberry pie served warm. The temperature was inconsistent throughout the piece. The pie was also cloyingly sweet, something we don't remember from past experience.

We usually eat here two or three times during the week we are here, but that is not going to be the case this year.

We have been to this restaurant before, with varying results. This time, the food was okay, but the service was dreadful. I don't want to pick on the waitress as it was obvious that she was overworked. She got a couple of things wrong with the order, but we had had to wait so long that we decided not to complain, especially since we had two very hungry children with us. It was unfortunate, though, that one of the incorrect orders was for one of the children. We had asked for mozzarella on the pasta, rather than the parmesan cheese that this particular child can't abide. Fortunately, there was enough other food on the table that she didn't go hungry. We'd strongly suggest that this restaurant hire more staff! Best thing about this place is the cockpit of the tugboat that you can climb to - children love it!

My daughter and I went to the Tugboat Inn Restaurant for dinner on our last evening. We both had different scallop dishes and the crab dip...all was delicious. The service was excellent.
