“An Annual Event”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2010

My husband and I live in S. Florida but visit Maine every summer. We visited Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens the first year they opened and now it's a not to be missed place to go. The first year you could tell it was a 'new' garden but you also could sense that it was well planned out. The next year we were impressed by the amount of work that had been done on the garden. This year when we visited we were enchanted by the new children's garden. On the day we visited, it was hopping with activity. Whoever designed that garden, saw it through a child's eyes and knew just what to incorporate to make it enticing to children. It was fun to watch the children so excited to go from one activity to another. I heard one mother complain that the children's garden was their first stop and she was afraid they'd never see the rest of the gardens b/c she couldn't get her kids out of there!

There are so many different areas in the gardens and each has its own beauty. Be sure to wear your walking shoes. We always plan on arriving at the garden at lunch time so we can eat in their cafe. They have a yummy menu and I believe they use some ingredients that they grow right in the garden.

We love it.

“A real gem on the Maine Coast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2010

The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a beautiful combination of plants, trees, scenic views and sculpture. We spent a half day there taking in the wonderful gardens and scenery. While it is still a work in progress what has been achieved already is amazing. Hopefully you'll visit on a nice day and be able to stroll along the paths to the various gardens like the Ledge Garden, the Children’s' Garden or the Lerner Garden of the Five senses. A shuttle takes you the gardens further afield such as the Rhododendron & Perennial Gardens. A must see for anyone interested in plants, gardens or sculpture.

“A beautiful gem to explore”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2010

This was one of the highlights of our visit to Maine in July 2010. It was just a few minutes drive from the Bayberry House Bed and Breakfast in Boothbay Harbor where we were staying (also highly recommended). The gardens are beautifully maintained and easy to explore. There are a variety of gardens, including a hands-on, interactive children's garden. Beyond the gardens were some beautiful woodland trails along a waterfront--an unexpected treat. We felt like we had entered a different world. This was a great outdoor activity and one you shouldn't miss if traveling to the Boothbay area.

“Children's Garden Is Magical”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2010

We took our 3 girls (ages 9, 6, & 6) on a brutally hot day and they had a glorious time. From the whale rocks spraying mist to the beanpole race to the treehouse and pond, the children's garden is simply wonderful.
