“A Beautiful Garden”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2009

My wife and I made a visit to the garden on one of the few sunny days in June in Maine this year. It truly is a beautiful place. We had both been here before when the garden had just purchased the land and was putting in the trails and roads. What a transformation! There is something for everyone here. There is a nice visitors center with an attached cafe for light lunches. The center doors open onto the more formal part of the garden which include a woodland, forest five senses rose and perennial gardens. There are several wind driven sculptures throught the gardens. There are also trails that lead down to the water with stops along the way to view the meditation garden. Plan on spending at least a couple of hours to enjoy the entire property.

“Well worth a first trip and deserving of a second, too!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 20, 2009

Even though it is very early spring and many plants have not started to grow yet, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The staff was very helpful and the welcome center facilities were sparkling. Walking through some of the nicest Maine woodlands along the well-maintained trails was relaxing. In fact, my favorite spot was the Vayo Meditation Garden where I had a pleasant lunch.
Although many of the plants have yet to sprout, I could see that there was a well-designed plan for them in the immaculate and well-marked beds. It is clear that a substantial amount of effort has been placed on keeping the grounds up and developing new displays. A Children's Garden is under construction (opening in 2010). If it is anywhere near as nice as the current gardens it will be a sight to see. I plan on coming back later in the spring or early summer to see the plants in bloom.
The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are a true gem!

“One of the most beautiful places I've ever been.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 1, 2009

One of the most beautiful places I've ever been. The gardens are strewn with sculptures and the trails are gorgeous. Definitely worth a day to explore. The gardens put on many special events during the summer, like inviting artists, authors, and musicians to perform/talk. It is a wonderful place; always expanding.

“Definitely worth the drive! A hidden gem!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2008

I had seen this garden advertised in a couple of places, and decided it would be good "filler" for a trip to the coast of Maine, if we had extra time. It turned out to a be an amazing day!

It's a bit of a drive to Boothbay Harbor from Portland, but the drive takes you through charming small towns, with lots of shops and diversions if you choose.

The garden is relatively new, and just beautifully put together! Even though the parking lot was full the day we were there, we never felt as though the facility was crowded. It was the perfect day to stroll through the themed gardens along the riverfront and in the woods!

The staff was exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable, and the cafe was just as pleasant an experience as the rest of the garden!

This is definitely a hidden gem on the coast of Maine!

“Gorgeous Botancal Garden--Hidden Treasure!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2008

The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are gorgeous. We visited on Labor Day, September 1, 2008. Much of the garden runs along the waterfront with gorgeous views both of the plants and water. There is a gorgeous meditation garden with a beautiful stone sculpture and plenty of stone benches for resting and admiring the surroundings. There is also an incredible area of "fairy houses" that you really have to see to appreciate.

The gardens far exceeded our expectations. They also accepted our memberships in our own local botanical gardens for admission. Regular admission was $10 for an adult.

I highly recommend the stop for gardeners and those looking for a great walk in a wonderful surroundings. This is a must-see for those visiting Boothbay Harbor, ME!
