Owner description: Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a natural wonder on 270 acres of shorefront in mid-coast Maine. Strolling through spectacular ornamental gardens and traversing miles of waterfront and woodland trails, visitors are delighted by the beautiful plantings, impressive stonework, waterfalls and fountains, and scenic views. It's no wonder the Gardens have been hailed as one of Maine's top three attractions. The Gardens are open 9-5 April 15 - October 31 (open until 6 pm in July and August). There is a cafe and gift shop on site. A visit at any time is a memorable experience.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is absolutely stunning! So many types of flowers, gardens, trees, water features and enough room to enjoy a leisurely day even if they are busy. Do wear comfortable walking shoes, especially if you wish to see the whole property. If you are unable to walk that far, you will see very beautiful gardens within easy reach of the main building. We visited on an unseasonably hot day, so we toured half the garden, then went to the on-site restaurant for lunch to cool down enough to see the rest. Unlike some "museum" or "tourist trap" restaurants, this one was surprisingly good with healthy choices. Be sure to bring your camera; your Macro setting will get a workout. The children's garden is enchanting, as are the fairy houses. There are also many interesting scuptures throughout the gardens.

This extraordinarily varied botanical attraction is a true treasure for all visitors to coastal Maine. The extensive site keeps expanding from year to year--most recently with an interactive kid-friendly children's garden and an evocative garden designed to stimulate all five of the senses. The gardens and walking trails also include imaginative sculptures--some permanent and some changed annually. One feature not mentioned by other recent reviewers is that annual memberships here also offer reciprocal free admission to other gardens nationwide--a great bargain if you travel to other botanical attractions during your membership period. My whole family (including three teens) loves this place!

This place leaves me speechless. It is quite possibly the most spectacularly beautiful public garden I have ever visited - including Europe and the UK. Generously endowed, passionately developed and lovingly maintained, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens are not-to-be-missed. The childrens' garden is magical and the elegant little restaurant a treasure. Go. And go again.

At bit out of the way and off the beaten path, but a true treat for senses. Allow at least two hours to enjoy all the incredible beauty. I've been to many botanical gardens, but this is by far the best.
