“Gorgeous spot for breakfast or lunch - amazing swordfish sandwich!”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

Goldthwaite's is an institution on Biddeford Pool, a local store near the neck of Biddeford Pool that gives locals and tourists a place to buyb the local paper, get good bread and find fresh seafood.

Lately its begun serving meals with picnic tables out back, with stunning views across the water to Wood Island lighthouse and up to Old Orchard. Even if the food was just average -- and the sordfish sandwich is unbeatable -- this would be a great place to have coffee and eggs for breakfast, or lunch.

Highly recommended.

“The very best New England clam chowder anywhere!”
Reviewed August 6, 2011

If you are a fan of clam chowder and steamers, this is the place to find them. The chowder is chock full of sweet clams and just the right amount of thickness. Doesn't get any better. The steamers are always fat and sweet. Other dishes are available and the menu changes. This is not a restaurant, more like a general store with a kitchen in the back, a few indoor tables and mostly outdoor picnic tables overlooking Biddeford Pool. A perfect summer afternoon. For dinner, you can pick out your lobsters and have them steamed for you at no extra cost.

“Perfect summer fare!”
Reviewed June 15, 2011

Get the crab cakes, the garlic/parmasan french fries, take them outside, sit at one of the picnic tables and watch the boats slide by; the gulls call out and the sea breeze cool you off. Life couldn't get any more perfect!

“Great Location, Good Lobster Roll”
Reviewed August 5, 2009

This small general store also has a restaurant in the back that serves a variety of dairy bar type food (hotdogs, hamburgers, etc), as well as fresh-made lobster rolls. The hamburger is a standard frozen patty, nothing special, but the lobster roll was quite good, if a bit expensive (depending on the current market price). The tables outside are a wonderful place to kill some time on a nice summer day, they look out onto the bay and are quite pleasant (we give the view 5 of 5). If you see a big, hand-wrapped chocolate whoopie pie, make sure you pick one up, the one we had was one of the best we've had; nice and soft, and with just the right amount of filling!
