We frequent the Smitty's locations in both Sanford and Biddeford several times a year and the food has always been remarkably good considering the venue. We attended a movie this weekend however at the Biddeford theater and we all sorely disappointed in both the lack of quality of the food and the terrible service. After we found seats and started reviewing the menu, our server approached and asked of we wanted to order anything. Having just sat down, we asked that she return in a few minutes, which she did, a few times as we decided on dinner. I know that the staff wants to get your food out before the movie starts, but there were only a dozen people in the theater and the movie didn't start for 25 minutes, we finally said we would place one menu upright when we were ready to order. Placed our order (4 adults), food arrived just before the start of the previews. None of the requested toppings had been included with one of the burgers, no a big deal, just more of a hassle, these were brought out on a plate looking like a salad. Only one container of bleu cheese was brought when there should have been three. Of the three burgers that were ordered, two were overcooked and lacking flavor, the bacon on one had several hard strings of inedible "meat" in each slice, the buffalo chicken tenders were greasy and the order of buffalo wings was barely cooked and each one incredibly small, I didn't know they has wings this small (ordered these last fall and they were large, crisp and delicious), will not order again. The other disappointment was the cluelessness of the wait staff who walked up behind me at one of the most intense parts of the movie and loudly asked if we wanted anything else......this could have waited another 15 seconds, again, there were only a dozen people in the theater, she was not pressed for time. Walking out after the film, we noticed that nearly all of the help were standing on the hallway intensely using their cellphones, just like when we entered. Guess that was what our server was in a hurry to get back to. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere, Sanford Smitty's has maintained their standards as of our last visit early this spring, and Cinemagic in Saco is a more professionally run theater, although slightly more expensive.
