I made our reservation 5 months in advance. "All our rooms are available and are the same price, which one would you like?" "Since I am not familiar with your establishment I will ask you to select your best room for me.:" Well - they didn't. Our room was nice but by no means the best. Two rooms on our floor were open and unused that had full bathrooms instead of the cubbyhole bath we had. The heat would not adjust so we had to turn on the window unit air conditioner. On the plus side the room was clean.

We arrived after dark and there was no outside lighting in the parking area. We could hear a dog barking quite nearby but with no lights could not see where danger might be.

The breakfast lived up to the reviews and reputation but the facility is in need of work. When I return to Bethel I will pick another option.

It is very important to us that our guests enjoy their stay with us and leave with good-will. We are very sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay, and we apologize for any inconveniences. We ask all of our guests during their stays if anything can be made better, or if they are unhappy with anything. We wish that you had spoken to us about your concerns. I can understand how hearing a dog bark when you are unable to see where the dog is could cause an alarm. The " barker" is our dog, Annie and we try to keep her indoors in our upstairs apt, when folks are in the parking lot. As for the quality of your room, it was assigned based on the level of the room and the number of guests we have coming in during the time you were with us. If you had spoken to us we may have been able to make a change, maybe not, but we would have tried. Heating and cooling a 100 year old building can be a challenge, Again had you told us we would have worked with you to alleviate the problem. We regret that your stay was not as good as it should have been.

Stayed here for 3 nights while skiing at Sunday River. Laurence is a very pleasant host, and made a perfect breakfast every day. Coffee was excellent, and they also have a large tea selection. Our room was charming, with plenty of antique furnishings. Am really happy we chose to stay here. Location is nice too: across from the supermarket, and within short walking distance to many restaurants in the center of Bethel. Would definitely stay here again.

My husband & I stayed here on a much-needed weekend getaway, and have nothing but wonderful things to say. We were in ME to ski, and the proximity of this B&B to Sunday River is just perfect. Plus, clean rooms, surprisingly quiet house (it was just about full when we were there, but you'd never have known it!), and a breakfast fit for royalty! Not only was the breakfast food delicious, but our wonderful host & hostess would leave amazing snacks throughout the day - a perfect greeting after a day on the slopes!

Lovely B&B experience that one hopes for: an historic house with antique furnishings, gracious host and hostess and a wonderful cooked-to-order breakfast, and a good night's rest in a comfortable bed.

Room Tip: Room #6 is lovely with plenty of room for 2.

I stayed here with my son in June of 2013. It was a nice place to stay for a night. We were looking at colleges and stayed here along the way. It was pleasant and charming. The food was very good. The bathroom was worn and could have used a bit of repair. The beds were comfortable enough. I wouldn't recommend this to families with young children, but for teenagers or adults, this was fine. The host was quite friendly and helpful.
I think that the rating was somewhere between average and very good. Some things were average, some very good. No complaints.

Thank you for your review. Although you were with us over six months ago, we do remember you. We are glad you found your stay a good one. Our Inn is over 100 years old and has been updated and renovated over the years. The decor is of course not modern, as the Inn is not modern. That is one of the things that our guests enjoy and should be expected. Each room has a private bath, as you know. We pride our selves on keeping our rooms clean, welcoming and comfortable. We do often have families stay with us, with children from babies to young adults, like your son. We truly enjoy having them with us.

We had a lovely one night stay here - a very charming older house with well appointed rooms. A comfortable bed, complimentary drinks and cookies in the living room upon our arrival and a splendid hosts. Laurence and Marcia are the most gracious, welcoming hosts you could imagine. The breakfast was truly english and we enjoyed it thoroughly - we will definitely be staying here again.
