My husband and I went to golf school in April. The Inn didn't tell us that the formal diningroom doesn't open until after Memorial Day so we ate in the bar every meal. Ugh. We got a suite, the room was awful. My husband was afraid to sit on the sofa because it had no springs. Golf School instructor, Ed, was fantastic though. Ask for him specifically because other instructor didn't seem like he made his group very happy.

Room Tip: Stay in one of the condos, they are really nice.

My family and I have been coming here for close to 20 years now, and we can't wait every year to come back. We come here 2 to 3 times a year and love it evey time. We are always treated like royalty. The whole staff, from the owner, Dick Razor to the waitstaff and even house keeping, are all so amazing and helpful in any way they can. The golf course is always kept up so nicely, and what a great way to spend our morning and afternoon. The food is out of this world. In all the years Ive never had a bad meal. We have always stayed in the condos alongside the 1st hole and they have always been kept up, and always a comfortable stay. Thank you to all of you at The Bethel Inn for all these great years that you have taken great care of all of us during our stay. Look forward to seeing you next May... :)

Room Tip: The townhouses and the condos are definitely the way to go.. They are all very nice.

My last visit to the Bethel Inn was over 20 years ago and I was really looking forward to revisiting this fall. Little has changed since my first visit, and that's not a good thing. A picturesque setting, charming exterior, good food and very friendly staff cannot overcome the overwhelmingly poor room product. Ownership does not appear to have spent capital on room upgrades over the past two decades. I had the recent unfortunate experience of staying on the first floor of The Oaks, a buiding located behinid the main Inn. The room was quite large and clean, but failed in every other measure. The furniture was dark and old, worthy of a college frat house. A pre-flat screen TV sat in a badly chipped and damaged console. The decor was spartan and dark, with maroon blackout curtains, dark green sofa, chair and bedspread. The bedding was terrible--thin pillows and mattress and a fake headboard tacked to the wall. Lighting was insufficient and dim; only four lights were scattered throughout the room and there was only one bedside table next to a kingsized bed. Only the vanity lighting was bright; the separate toilet and shower room was dark. The whole interior effect was reminiscent of a roadside motel from 40 to 50 years ago. To add to the ambience, sound insulation between rooms was non-existent. I awoke in the middle of the night to the sound of rushing water--someone had flushed a toilet and the drainage pipes were in the wall by the bed. A second wake-up experience was caused by very clearly audible sound of someone retching the the adjacent room's bathroom. Ownership of this hotel should be required to spend a busy weekend night in one of these rooms to get the full guest experience.

Room Tip: See it before you book.

We have spent extensive time in Bethel over the years, and based on reputation we expected the Bethel Inn would be a grand, charming place to stay for a romantic weekend. The hiking in the mountains (Old speck, etc.) was great. The restaurants in Bethel were good. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed by the room at Bethel Inn. We booked a basic room (over $200 per night). The "queen bed" was actually two twins pushed together and queen sheets. There was a lot paint peeling in the bathroom, and mildew on the curtains. The room was cramped; furnature was decades past needing replacement. I was hoping for "old and charming," but instead we found "old and tired." There are probably better options around.

We mentioned our disappointment with the bed at checkout and we were compensated with a free Sunday newspaper, for what it's worth.

Just returned today from a four night stay at The Bethel Inn and am ready to go back! My friends and I were greeted by the wonderful and friendly Tonda at the front desk and checked into our townhouse by noon so we could unpack before our first round of golf. Mark and Travis at the pro shop were great as was the entire golf experience. We played 36 holes a day on a beautifully kept course and never had to wait or ever felt rushed. It was truly golf nirvana! After golf we headed to the onsite Millbrook Tavern and Grill and had the best chicken wings and pub fare and great cocktails. The pub has a great atmosphere and again, the staff was as friendly as could be.
The grounds are in excellent condition and everywhere you look there are beautiful flowers and plantings. Sue, the landscaper takes a lot of pride in her work and it shows. Breakfast was included in our package and was delicious. Again, the waitstaff could not have been more attentive or friendly. Our townhouse was right on the 11th hole and we had a fantastic view of the course and the mountains in the background. My friends and I are booking again for next fall and can't wait to get back to The Bethel Inn...

Room Tip: All the rooms face the golf course so you really can't go wrong.

I have resisted the idea of golf lessons for 25 yrs....but after a 2 year downward spiral I decided it couldn't hurt (I hoped). To my pleasant surprise I was paired with a golf instructor who may well be the ONLY one who could have helped me! His personality and expertise and patience are a winning combination. The golf course is beautiful and the school includes all your meals, your room, and unlimited use of the facilities. Everyone was friendly and helpful. I hope with some practice my golf game will be back on track! The Bethel Inn is lucky to have Harry W. Andrews as one of their Golf Pros.

We stayed in a townhouse on the first hole of the golf course. Very clean and handy to the main house and dining room. The breakfst is great and the service excellent. We've been there many times and I'm sorr4y to say that the dinner has gone downhill the past year. When we stayed last the golf was free but it's no longer included. Golf course is good for the intermediate player but not in great condition. All in all it still can't be beat for what you pay.

Room Tip: Go with the condos for a few bucks more
