This was our first B & B and didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised, room was neat, clean and no musty smells. It was also very quiet, felt like we were the only ones there, but the rooms were all full. Breakfast was very good, blueberry, cream cheese French Toast was excellent. Our room and bed were small but sufficient for one night. I think I would have reserved a larger room if I was staying longer. I would recommend this particular B & B.

Imagine - after a day of travel: it's all there. A big, pleasant room with a little anteroom and a high cove ceiling. Everything clean. A roomy bath with a big, deep shower/tub with jacuzzi-style nozzles (they DO work). A tall, VERY comfortable bed. A TV of course, in an ornate, split armoire, and even a comfy sofa.

The owner and hostess, Pat Thurston, helped us with suggestions for dinner places - even calling around to see what restaurants might be open on a Monday night.

That night, coming back, we found warm, delicious cookies on a plate by the stairs, and we encountered no next-door coughs or plumbing gurgles; the room had all the quiet of a fine, old, solid house and we slept well on that wonderful bed.

Next morning I went down for an early cup of coffee, and came up to read the news in bed.

Breakfast was prepared fresh and offered everything - sausage, bacon (crisp, delicious), eggs, yogurt, fruit, muffins- even a trial blueberry cheesecake French toast, and that was good, too.

We left after that without incident - and, it turned out, without my 18" Mac laptop. That night, unpacking, I discovered it and called Pat in a panic. Yes, came the kindly answer, of course they'd check right away, and yes, it was there, and yes, they'd be glad to send it on. No problem - a guest service. And yes, it arrived safely - I'm writing this review on it.

My sense is, if you're looking for anything besides a hotel/motel chain, you can't go wrong with this place. It would be perfect for group on a weekend get-together. It was perfect for us as a couple of leaf-peepers. In fact, if you are looking for hospitable, comfortable accommodations away from cities, and you're anywhere near Bethel, I'd definitely go there!

This property is in need of a few updates but the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room quite old fashioned but a nice size was very clean. The breakfast was good and made to order, I was happy to get yogurt with fruit and homemade granola, my husband was satisfied with his bacon and eggs. I think for the price it was well worth it. A nice place to stop on our way to bar harbor, maine.

We enjoyed our stay at the Victorian Inn. We loved the comfortable bed and Victorian décor. We had a sitting room with a tv right outside our bedroom. The breakfast was delicious and there was so many choices.
The staff was so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely stay here again!

It is indeed a Victorian Style; very nice, clean, quiet, resonating with great vibes. The owner serves good breakfast. Apparently, it is newly renovated, but you do not need to have a good imagination to feel like travel a century back in time.

My boyfriend, parents, and I stayed for a night at the inn before a wedding. It was so charming and comfortable and we couldn't stop raving about it all weekend. We loved everything about it and will absolutely be back. Our only regret is that we didn't book for 2 nights. Much preferred to staying in a generic hotel room.

Remember, this is a Bed and Breakfast from a previous era. If you are looking for hotel stay, you will not find it here. It's exactly what I expected though - feels like you are staying in an old home. Yes, there is some exposed pipes and patches in the wall as mentioned in the other reviews, but we found our room to be clean. No musty smells. We stayed in Room #4 and it was quite large. We had a private bathroom and a full size couch in our sitting area. Bed was high off the ground - had to jump up a bit, but very comfortable. Softest sheets you can imagine - never find that in a hotel. We had a wall A/C, huge fan in the closet and windows on three sides of the room. Great location just down the street from Bethel Inn. We ate dinner at 22 Broad which is nice and within walking distance (try the Root Beer Martini for a cute surprise) Breakfast included fresh blueberries and raspberries from the garden. Also had fresh baked pumpkin bread and homemade cookies. Breakfast Fritatta was amazing! Pat the Inn Keeper is very sweet and tries to give everything a personal touch. I wish the sitting areas were more inviting - perhaps a library of books or magazines (besides the basic tourist brochures) I would have like to hang out downstairs a little longer. Only reason I gave it a 4/5 is I thought the price was a bit high for off-season. I realize a lot of upkeep for an older place, but hard to pay that in such a small town. Though to be fair, the "executive suites" down the street from the Inn was was much, much cheaper but looked in desparate need of repair.
