We stayed at the Victoria Inn from 19th to 24th August this year. We were greeted with the warmth of not only hot coffee, but also the sincere welcome of the innkeeper, Patty.

With a large bed and bathroom, the room that we stayed in was exceptional, decorated to a very high standard with features representative of the Victorian era. This was so much better than staying at an identikit room of a hotel chain.

Patty is the secret ingredient of the Victoria Inn's success. She shares her extensive knowledge of hidden local gems, like the amazing vista at the top of Paradise Drive and the best place for lobster. There were home-baked cookies placed in the hall each day that we enjoyed as a lovely treat.

The breakfasts were hearty, fresh and tasty, including 'eggs any way you like' Everyone who stays should try the fluffy omelettes and gorgeous home-made granola.

Rather than confine herself to mere food and housekeeping, Patty's philosophy is that we are more her guests at a home away from home, not mere customers.

She could teach the big hotels a lot with that mindset!

Coming from Montreal, this is my second time at the Victorian. Even it is out of the way to go hiking the Franconia Ridge (but close for mount Washington), I chose to stay here. The rooms are nice and very clean. The bed is very comfortable. The bathroom is spacious. The breakfast is delicious, generous and very nutritious to spend a day hiking, either mount Washington or Franconia. I love the home-made granola and biscuits. But the determining factor for our choice is the gracious hostess, Patricia. She is extremely nice, helpful and accommodating. We got back from a long day hiking and we felt like having take-out pizza and our champagne, she allowed us to use her facilities.
We will be back again for the next hiking at Jefferson.

We had a two-night stay at the Victoria Inn in Bethel, Maine. The property is breathtaking, accurate in décor and workmanship. It was an excellent place to stay.
The first thing I noticed was the attention to detail.
As a contractor, I have worked on a lot of construction projects. Remodeling work is especially challenging, since it requires both removing old work and installing new items.
All of the interior and exterior remodeling at the Victoria Inn has been done with a careful eye to providing a relaxing Bed & Breakfast experience.
The front porch is the perfect place to sit and gaze into the calmness of the surrounding small community that is Bethel, Maine.
The entry doors are a unique, broad dimension – possible 42”? – which gives an appropriate grandeur to the building entrance.
Just inside, there is a beautiful wood staircase. There is the same ornate woodwork throughout the property.
Even the tile-work in the bathroom was intricate and laid with precise grout lines.
Patricia, or “Pat”, is a skilled and gifted innkeeper. She was available when we needed something, without ever being intrusive.
We will return if we have the opportunity.

I had the pleasure of spending the evening at the Victoria Inn in Bethel , Maine this past Friday evening. Patricia, the inn’s gracious hostess, greeted me upon arrival at her lovely inn nestled in the mountains of western Maine. She could not have been more accommodating. She even allowed me use of her kitchen’s refrigerator for keeping a perishable food gift cool overnight.
My very clean room, the bathroom immaculate, was tastefully done . Fluffy pillows and comforters topped a very soft, yet firm bed. While other guests also stayed the night, you would never have known it. A restful quiet descended at nightfall with not the least disturbance throughout the evening.
While redolent of the Victorian era, the inn sports modern amenities;
in-room air conditioning, WiFi, and a TV housed discreetly in the armoire.
In the morning, I was warmly greeted by Patricia and her staff into a sunny dining room for a hearty breakfast included with the night’s stay. The generous fare boasts fresh cut fruit, banana bread and made to order hot breakfast.
After breakfast, I ambled, unhurried, down the shady streets of Bethel, Maine. Quaint shops and a quintessential New England academy invite the traveler to linger
awhile.
Returning to the inn, I was able to check out in a leisurely fashion, resolving to return.

We stayed one night at the Victorian. The room was amazing, though we believe they switch the room we had originally wanted. Breakfast was dissappointing. It was a good breakfast but it was small and they were cleaning up when we came down, even though they had asked us to come down later.
