As someone who travels quite frequently for business, I've stayed in my fair share of hotels and inns. My recent stay at the Mill Hill Inn was nothing short of fantastic. Everything about this place is top-shelf. The decor is classy and comfortable. The artwork (especially the creations of the proprietor, Woody Hughes) is eye-catching yet understated. The food was exceptional - we (including my kids) tried at least 6 different "small plates," and all of us wanted to keep ordering more! The rooms are impeccably clean and spacious - we stayed in a suite that had a king sized bed plus a sleeping loft with two twins for our kids. Woody is laid-back, easy to talk to, and an excellent chef.
This place just has good karma!! When you walk into the Great Room, Woody or a member of his staff is there to greet you with open arms. The clientele who frequent the Inn to eat, have a drink at the bar, and/or listen to some awesome live music, also seem to have a strong positive vibe about them. My wife and I had a blast sitting and chatting with everyone on the screened porch while our kids watched a movie in the den upstairs. I can't tell you how relaxing it was to wake up in the morning to the smells of coffee brewing and breakfast cooking!!!
Honestly, it felt like I was visiting an old friend at his home. Whenever we make a trip to Bethel, I don't believe we'll stay anywhere else. Many thanks to Woody and Lee for a truly awesome trip! We hope to come back very soon!!
