“The BEST in Bethel!!! Great karma!!!”
Reviewed May 13, 2012

As someone who travels quite frequently for business, I've stayed in my fair share of hotels and inns. My recent stay at the Mill Hill Inn was nothing short of fantastic. Everything about this place is top-shelf. The decor is classy and comfortable. The artwork (especially the creations of the proprietor, Woody Hughes) is eye-catching yet understated. The food was exceptional - we (including my kids) tried at least 6 different "small plates," and all of us wanted to keep ordering more! The rooms are impeccably clean and spacious - we stayed in a suite that had a king sized bed plus a sleeping loft with two twins for our kids. Woody is laid-back, easy to talk to, and an excellent chef.

This place just has good karma!! When you walk into the Great Room, Woody or a member of his staff is there to greet you with open arms. The clientele who frequent the Inn to eat, have a drink at the bar, and/or listen to some awesome live music, also seem to have a strong positive vibe about them. My wife and I had a blast sitting and chatting with everyone on the screened porch while our kids watched a movie in the den upstairs. I can't tell you how relaxing it was to wake up in the morning to the smells of coffee brewing and breakfast cooking!!!

Honestly, it felt like I was visiting an old friend at his home. Whenever we make a trip to Bethel, I don't believe we'll stay anywhere else. Many thanks to Woody and Lee for a truly awesome trip! We hope to come back very soon!!

Room Tip: we stayed in room #8, top floor of the Inn. It is a huge suite with a king bed and sleeping loft wi...

Last night we celebrated our sons 18th birthday at the Mill Hill Inn--and what a treat it was. The staff was warm and friendly, the eclectic tasting-style menu was delicious and the evening was wonderful. The seared tuna, spanish quesadilla's, panko-encrusted shrimp, marinated steak tips, delicious salad. All memorable, yummy and I can't wait to go again. Thank you Woody and Lee. PS the accommodations were clean and comfortable.

The proprietor of the local B&B we were staying in suggested visiting Woody at the Mill Hill Inn for dinner. What a wonderful surprise. Woody, the owner, is a bundle of energy, seemingly handling every aspect of his B&B on his own. The menu was just fabulous, offering a variety of entree sized tapas and a more than respectable selection of beer. . We started with his "simple" bread and oil appetizer. It was anything but. Fresh olive oil, feta cheese, sun dried tomatoes, caper, and fresh bread - I could have eaten this and nothing else. Followed up with sweet potato quesadilla, falafel, and a brie and raspberry filo pastry. YUM! After dinner, Woody invited us to tour his gallery (he's a VERY talented potter) and the B&B. What a great space - a converted barn - and the rooms are huge. Put this on your list to visit when you are in Bethel.

We stayed at the Mill Hill Inn this past weekend after reading the fabulous 5 star reviews on TripAdvisor. This was our first bed and breakfast stay and we were super pleased with the hospitality and the accommodations. The rooms are fairly large and the beds are very comfy and spacious. I have a hard time sleeping usually and slept great on the bed.

The food served was amazing and healthy. We ate 2 breakfasts there and dinner as well. I could not get over the gourmet style of the food. I am salivating thinking of it!

Woody is the owner and he will take good care of you. We arrived pretty late on Friday night but he made sure to stay and wait for our arrival. We enjoyed a drink or two with other guests that night and got to know more about the Inn. There is amazing pottery all over the place that Woody himself hand crafted. Also, do make sure to order a blueberry Margarita from the bar. Mill Hill Inn won the annual Margarita contest at Sunday River's ParrotHead weekend. They won People's Choice! You will see the plaque proudly being displayed at the side of the bar. You will not be disappointed!

It is a very good place to bring a family but also a good place for couples. We will be definitely staying here again on any future visits to the area! Thanks again Woody for your hospitality! Do inquire to stay here, you will not be disappointed!

Woody the owner is like the friend you've always had in bethel that invited you to stay at his house. All food is cooked by woody and served on his own handmade ceramic dishes and plates (quite beautiful if I might add), the food is 5 star quality yet you feel like your sitting at your dinner table at home. Combined with the fun nightlife (including bar and live entertainment nightly), great service, friendly people, and great clean and comfy rooms, the mill hill inn really becomes the place to be in bethel Maine. Definetly recommended, probably one of the best places I've ever stayed. Thank you Woody!

If you want the experience of a Maine Country Inn this is it.
If your sking, biking, hiking or just country exploring you'll look forward to starting the day with a hearty breakfast made by the owner/cook/house keeper and receptionist, Woody. If your a late morning riser (I'm early morning) you'll wake to the aroma of your breakfast being prepared downstairs and the smell of the woodstove be stoked in the great room.
Woody will do his best to see you have an enjoyable relaxing stay.
It is not a five star hotel nor a two star hotel it is a comfortable and relaxing Maine Country Inn. Woody has recently renovated the Inn, including large beds, comfy bedding and new bathrooms. On the top floor there are 2 large private family suites. We look forward to returning with our 4 children and staying in one of the suites.
The Inn is located in Bethel Maine and within easy walking distance (5-7min) of grocery stores, bank and resturants.
Take time out to sit and chat with Woody, you won't regret it.
The Dinner Menue looked good but it was only available on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Large suite shared with friends for a women's ski weekend. Clean rooms, nice food (excellent dinner). Woody went out of his way to make us comfortable. Very convenient, right in town, walk to Nordic skiing. Will definitely visit again soon.
