No longer in use for vehicles, it's still worth a look. Drive down the road quite a ways until you see it. Great views of the nearby slopes from there and fabuluos fall foliage in season.

On a loop tour of fall foliage in Oxford and Franklin counties, we found this picture-perfect covered bridge just northwest of Bethel. Built in 1870 or so, this unpainted, wooden, 87-foot long, Paddelford truss covered bridge is one Maine’s most popular. It is closed to vehicle traffic. A small gravel parking lot is onsite. Parking was scarce due to hordes of camera-toting leaf-peepers. Views up and down the Sunday River from the bridge were impossible to get with all the shutterbugs around. We liked what we saw despite having so much company when we saw it. Bring a camera anytime you visit here.

We are on a New England road trip, Maine, NH, and Vermont. This is our first view of a covered bridge on this trip, hope to see more as we go. A really neat and popular place. Lots of photo takers, and there was a wedding on the bridge earlier in the day. Nice easy trail below the bridge for pictures also.
