“Big and Varied”

The only ski resort in the eastern U.S. that can top Sunday River is Killington, and the latter is crowded and hectic. Sunday River is not. There are terrain choices for every ability. Snowmaking has improved dramatically in recent years, so the double blacks aren't always eastern ice and scratch.

“Great Ski (and golf) resort - but not at the same time!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 8, 2013

Sunday River is the perfect family ski resort. 8 peaks, guaranteed snow due to excellent snow making facilities (you can't tell the difference from the real stuff), beautifully groomed trails and the friendliest staff. This resort does not attract the jet set skiers just real people who love their skiing and boarding!! Kids would move here if they were allowed. If you're lucky you might just see Eddie the Yeti.

Also home of Maine adaptive skiing - all volunteers who give up their time and effort to help those who have lost limbs or are blind etc. to ski this great place. All made possible by donations.

Don't ski? They have installed zip lines so you can still experience the mountain in the snow.

Prefer golf - visit in the summer - fantastic course for Mum & Dad, mountain biking for the teenagers and a spa for anyone who wants pampering or their aching muscles revived.

We like it so much we built a house here!

“One of the best mountains in the Northeast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2013

Fantastic mountain with a great variety of trails. Not the highest vertical but 8 mountains with lots of trails in every level. Super snowmaking, fast lifts, great lodges and food nearby. Never disappointing.

“New Favorite Mountain”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 30, 2013

yesterday was my first experiance at Sunday River. It was a perfect day for skiing. Clear skys and almost all the trails were groomed. I hit every peek. I grew up a skier, In the catskills where Hunter Mountain was my everyday sanction. I then moved to New Jersey living very close to to Mountain Creek in Vernon NJ. I have been to many east coast mountains- Hidden Valley (tiny), Shawnee Peak, Sugar Loaf and many more in the New England Area- I have to say by far the most interesting and beautiful mountain was Sunday River. Every employee I ran into was outstandingly friendly and the trails were very fun.

“fun ski weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

A smaller resort than it looks on the map. Helpful staff. Great conditions despite subzero temps both days.

Not enough locker storage in lodges.

Lots of trails to spread out the crowds.
