We stop by Darby's when we're in Maine. The food is earthy and warm. We have yet to have a meal that wasn't delicious. The dishes (including an awesome avocado guacamole) are made in house and from scratch. The space is warm and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Cozy tavern and yummy food! It was rainy that evening and the atmosphere was homey and enjoyable. We are glad we stopped as our hotel said they were great and they were right!

Darby's definitely has that pub feel but it's menu is not what I expected. They had some pub foods but also had some variety which made us feel that we weren't eating the same old thing. Enjoyed our meals and were very well prepared with large portions. Definitely worth a stop.

Darby's is an excellent choice for lunch. Haddock sandwich is very good, fish&chips good, quesadilla good, service good. French fries are unique (a bit soggy but accompanied by special vinegar) and the pickle is crisp. No pretense served here.

We came in after a road race. Granted, we came in with three adults and three children (about 12 months...all of them) BUT our server had a great opportunity to make 20% from this party of three bartenders/servers and their children. All she had to do was be nice to them, and us. My fish and chips was average. The other two had nice meals. They ordered Irish coffees. the Irish coffee was served with just Jameson and Coffee. This is, apparently, the original recipe. We, being bartenders, have ALWAYS served it with Baileys. It doesn't really matter because it's all in how you handle a situation like this. We asked for a little Baileys to be added. When we got our check she had charged $7 for the cocktail and $7 for a shot of Baileys...per cocktail. So each drink was $14............

We don't mind paying for nice things. We would have paid $14 for a nice martini or a single malt? but seriously? The two cocktails covered the cost of the whole Bailey's bottle....

Anyway. I wouldn't go back. I felt uncomfortable with how the server handled it. We inquired about the extra charge, questioning if she meant to charge THAT much? She got annoyed, rolling her eyes and slammed the card on the table when she left. They did take $7 off the bill. so just be aware that Irish coffees with Baileys there cost $10.50.

Sorry they couldn't resolve this before we left upset.
