Where's Rollies? Where did it go? What in the world did you do in the kitchen?
After 10 years, Rollies has changed. It's still a neat spot to go for a beer or cocktail and some munchies, but if you want a good meal, you may want to rethink. We used to recommend this place to everyone, but something is very wrong in the kitchen. The food quality over the past few months has gone way down. When we spoke to our bartender about it, she asked if we would talk with the owner, as many people were complaining. Apparently the staff cannot approach the owner about customer complaints, and he was too "busy" to speak with us personally.
Whatever happened in the kitchen, whether it was staff change or you are trying to scrimp and save some money, please put it back to the way it was, we will pay a little more for quality. Know you will ask, well, what was your problem. Okay, steak and cheese was full of chunks of what seemed to be leftover roast chopped up instead of shaved beef, and almost inedible. Italian sub had one slice of cappicola and one slice of cheese. Burger meat is not what it used to be. Pizza is awful, what happened to the other ones, they were perfect size for bar food, and the dough was quite good. If anything, offer 2 sizes, and please bring the old dough back. I will say, your rye bread is very, very good, if someone wants a sandwich, get it on the rye. Drinks seem to be not as good, we can get that quality elsewhere. Staff seems to be not as happy as they used to be, like they are walking on eggshells, fearful. If we feel uncomfortable after 10 years for the past few months, something is wrong, and we have given them many chances out of loyalty.
I would tell folks to give this place a shot, you may have different experiences, and it is a fun and unique pub, and the staff are really nice. However, if you have an "off" meal, please speak up and see if the owner has time to talk with you. He doesn't have the time for us.
