“Manhattan penthouse in mid coast Maine”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2010

Suite 301 at Belfast Bay Inn feels like an upscale penthouse in Manhattan. The decor and the quality of furnishings, art, and accessories are absolutely first class. This is not just a suite of rooms, but more an apartment with ample room for relaxing. There are great lights for reading which can sometimes be challenging to find in accommodations. A wall of windows and French doors highlights the lving room area as wel as providing a view to the bay. The innkeepers have many years of experience in the hospitality business, and they are always available for dining, shopping and sightseeing suggestions. Belfast is just a short drive from Camden, and I would suggest that you not overlook this city. Great historical buildings, many art galleries and restaurants are all within walking distance of the Inn. This lodging is not to be missed.

Judy and Ed KNOW what they are doing. With decades in the hospitality industry, it came as no surprise that not a single detail was overlooked in their gem, the Belfast Bay Inn, From an unassuming street front, we entered the lobby and were truly transported into an ethereal world of comfort and coziness. Our room, #203, was much more than we had ever imagined from the pictures we had viewed on-line, including a full kitchen (minus the oven, but who cooks on vacation anyway?). Each room in our suite was appointed in such a manner as to create a complete "vibe," and it was one that whispered, "relax, relax, relax." The in-room breakfasts were simply amazing, and it was wonderful to speak with both Judy and Ed during their morning visits with coffee in hand.

My wife and I both commented that we would love to own one of the suites as a secret get-away, but lacking that ability (money, and, well, it seems Judy and Ed are not selling), we plan on returning annually to enjoy the Inn, as well as the many shops around town. We are counting the days to our return!

Going to Maine? If so there's no better place to stay than the belfast Bay Inn. Right in the middle of this charming town with great parking just steps away from the landscaped courtyard`entrance..The Inn keepers, Ed` and judy couldn't have been more attentive, warm and professional . The suites are spacious, prestine, tastefully decorated and complete with every concievable amenity. The included breakfasts [served in the room] were delicious and Judy's presentation earned a 10+ in ou diary. A browse thru the gift shop is a must. We can't wait to return to the Inn and so will you if you try it... Chuck and `Fran

Like others who have posted reviews, we found this accommodation to be excellent in every respect. The hosts (Eddy & Judy) were genial and very helpful. The suite was large, extremely well appointed and marvellously comfortable. We hope to return and unhesitatingly recomend the Inn to other travellers

We travelled with our three infant girls and our nanny, and were a little nervous about how we would be received. The owners and hosts (Eddie and Judy) were exceptionally gracious and helpful in every way. Our rooms were luxurious, the beds heavenly, and the breakfasts sublime - everything freshly baked..They did every conceivable thing to make us feel at home and at rest...When we were getting ready to leave, Eddie presented each of our girls with an adorable little teddy bear - what a lovely farewell! This couple clearly loves what they do, and they are exceptional at it. We will definitely be back.

We had originally planned to stay in nearby Camden, but I am ever so glad we did not. Belfast Bay Inn was probably my favorite place I have ever stayed.
The innkeepers/owners, Judy and Eddie, were truly wonderful. As someone else mentioned, they were always available, yet allowed for plenty of privacy!
The suites are beautiful, very spacious and comfortable. The town is charming. I truly cannot wait to return!

When we saw that Judy and Ed Hemmingsen are the proprietors of the Belfast Bay Inn, we changed our reservations from another hotel. And we were not disappointed. It is so great that they are now working their hotel magic in Belfast. The Belfast Bay Inn is exquisite. Especially loved the Stearns & Foster mattress, which was such a treat, and made me never want to leave. The Midcoast location is so convenient too. We will never stay anywhere else!
