Little place tucked on a side street. Best lunch in Bath served up by super friendly staff. Chowder rates with best I have ever had.

“Great find. Quaint with awesome chowder!”
Reviewed July 26, 2013 via mobile

Headed to Bath for a rainy day. This place had good Yelp reviews so we picked it for lunch. They just do breakfast and lunch. Delicious bread and build your own sandwich. Chowder of the day was haddock and shrimp and is some of the best we have had. Well used Trivial Pursuit cards and unique salt and pepper shakers at each table added to the cozy and quaint atmosphere. A half sandwich and cup of chowder was plenty and filling. $22 for two for lunch. Perfect!

“Terrific food, cool setting, great prices”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

We discovered this little spot while on vacation in Maine. They have the best sweet rolls I've had in a long time. The service is great, very friendly. Our breakfasts were delicious. We'll definitely be going here again.

“A " slightly" hidden gem”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

You have to look around the corner and actually down, but when you find the Starlight Cafe in Bath, Maine it is well worth your while.
Great service, friendly staff and incredible food. Have breakfast or lunch - we had lunch and it was delivered o our table with a smile. The lunch was delicious and just make sure were happy, the owner came over to the table to check. On the way out I got a butterscotch oatmeal cookie which topped off the experience perfectly

“Hidden Gem in Bath Maine”
Reviewed June 20, 2013

We actually live in a nearby town and have never noticed this little cafe until the other day. It's a bit out of the way, although only just off Front Street which is the "Maine Street" of Bath. They serve breakfast and lunch only. The place is below one of the historic blocks of buildings in Bath, "Now You're Cooking" is also in this block and a not to be missed store for cooks!
When you enter the Starlight Cafe you place your order then have a seat and are served when your food is ready. We were there for breakfast and can only rave about the food (best REAL corned beef hash I have ever eaten). They also had a couple of gluten free baked products that were fabulous. We could not sample the GF peanut butter cookies but were told that they were better than anything...
The best part was the staff, fun, chatty, personable and friendly. The decor is funky casual with stone foundation walls peaking out here and there.
We strongly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch, or just a cup of coffee and a baked treat and are so glad that we noticed it. We might not have except that we got a parking place in front of the Old Customs House and so walked past the sign that is on the Front St sidewalk, just across the side street from the OCH.
Don't miss it if you want a truly local experience that does not come across as pandering to the tourists. It's the real deal.
