“Long time local establishment”
Reviewed September 14, 2013 via mobile

On our way to Woolwich and decided to stop in Bath to have lunch. Plenty of parking in their own lot. This venue is on the river and offers outdoor dining. The breeze was a bit brisk so we opted for an inside window table. We were seated immediately and ice water was served as we sat. How nice! We viewed the menu and placed our order. We enjoyed the view while waiting. Our choices were served in a reasonable amount of time. I chose an item off the daily special which was a seasonal vegetable medley on flatbread. Hubby chose the broiled haddock sandwich. Both choices were very good. I took half of mine home for future enjoyment. Lots of menu choices to suit most tastes.

“Beyond horrible August 31st”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

This was our fifth visit in two years. Service was slow back in May when we picked up our son
from college but we were mellow and the food was good. So Kennebec Tavern was our first
choice on Saturday. What a mistake.

The restaurant was only 1/3 full . It took an hour to get the food this was after a 15min wait
for our waiter to come and say hello. The very young bus person spilt water all over the table
and needed our help cleaning it up. After 45 mins the waiter brought some foccacia bread
that was completely raw in the middle.

We looked around wondering if it was just our table that was cursed. Not so, at least three other
tables had no food forever. Two other sets of people waited 20 mins to get seated, one couple gave up and left. The remaining family had come off a boat so had no choice but to wait. Their teenage son was really surly by the time their food showed up. An elderly couple with married offspring started to nod off so they ended up getting takeout containers when the food arrived. At a neighboring table the family ended up slumped over, their food took more an hour! I could go on but no one would believe me. The mashed potatoes were good, but honestly everything else was average and not worth the wait.

“Friendly people, good food”
Reviewed August 24, 2013

We ate there twice during a recent mini-holiday. Partially was convenience close to our hotel but we also liked it well enough to return. The people are friendly, likely local college kids with a summer job. Food was quite tasty - had a very reasonably priced lobster roll loaded with lobster, light on the mayo and delicious sweet potato fries (which are extra though). The seafood chowder special that night was excellent and rich with seafood flavor and chunks of fish and others. The second night we sat outside by the water which was a nice setting but one downside was that when a boat pulled in to dock the smell of gas fumes was a bit overwhelming. Had the lobster fettucini (can't remember if that's what it was called anymore but essentially what it was) which again had nice chunks of lobster with a very tasty sauce. If you sit outside would recommend sitting a little away from the water - view is as good but hopefully would be less fume-y. And go early to avoid the crowds as well as the "state bird" of Maine - the mosquito coming out at dusk. They had a full bar with local beers and mixed drinks.

We stayed across the street and walked over one evening for dinner. This was the best haddock dinner that I have had. All of the food was served very hot and all to our liking. The lobster Mac and cheese was also the "best" drinks were good and service was fast. The place was very clean and servers were happy to see you. I also got a take out of spaghetti for someone back at the room, and she loved it ! I would certainly go back again if we are ever in the area. Enjoyed it very much.

“what a wonderful place”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

My wife and I had a lovely lunch on the outdoor terrace under an elegant blue umbrella, with a marvelous view of Bath's big bridge over the Kennebec River. The service was prompt, the drinks were very nice, and the food was scrumptious. We began the meal with tasty appetizers; my wife ordered steamed mussels, which were well prepared, if a bit on the small side, and I got a bowl of awesome lobster stew (made with butter, cream, and a nice shot of sherry). While eating these delicious starters, we sipped on the local Sea Dog Wild Blueberry Wheat Ale, which
was refreshing with a very smooth finish, and then moved on to a frosty Shipyard Ale. We then shared cajun-accented crab cakes and a large garden salad. For dessert, we had blueberry sour cream pie with a lovely pecan garnish that went very nicely with our after lunch coffees.
The whole experience was very special, and our server, Julie, highly skilled. The overall
tone was a blue one: blue umbrella, blue river water, Blueberry Ale and Blueberry Pie :) It was a
but on the pricey side, but well worth it in every respect.
