“Average in all ways”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 17, 2013 via mobile

Very hot day so really liked the AC inside. I don't know if they forgot to put our order in and the young waitress realized it 45 minutes into our being there, but then everything arrived at once. Appetizers, entrees etc. and there was no room on the table to put everything. Steamed clams take up a lot of space. They were great, but by the time they were finished, the onion rings were cold with the lobster roll. Had lobster stew as well. Found the lobster in all dishes we had tough and really overcooked. Shameful for a Maine restaurant! Second time there. I think there are much better choices in Bath to dine at

“Return to a dependable friend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2013

We have visited this restaurant in 2010 and 2011, unfortunately was unable to make it last year.
Today, gracious indoor seating, prompt service from a significantly affable server (a huge thank you to the attendant who served water and cleaned tables).
Our selections were well prepared, strong clam chowder, tasty lobster roll, a haddock sandwich fit for royalty, savory slaw, good frittes (I project you call them french fries).
It was an enjoyable and fulfilling lunch. I submit the server and her colleagues are all quite wholly proficient.
This is a fine restaurant; fine staff, excellent food.

“There are excellent restaurants and then there are truly great ones!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

I would have given this restaurant 5 stars for excellence based on the food, atmosphere, location, cleanliness and pricing alone. What truly raises this Tavern to a class of it's own is the service.
If you can imagine coming in to a restaurant 1 hr before it closes and having your server greet you as enthusiastically as when he first started his day, you will know how that can enhance your experience, Maine has been in a heat wave, but our waiter Zane was as fresh as a daisy. The one thing that put Zane over the top was his thoughtfulness. We ate on the deck, dockside. Once the sun set you don't need the table umbrellas. The umbrellas also block the low lighting on the posts.
Zane offered to close our umbrella, great idea. I looked around, no one else had their umbrella closed. All those hours in the heat, on his feet and he still thought of the customers comfort.
The presentation of the meal is beautiful. We went back for dinner 3 times. Our experience was always great.
My husband had the Flat Iron Steak (twice). It was always tender and delicious, his favorite.
I had the lobster. My first Maine Lobster. There is something different about a local Maine lobster. They are sweeter, more meat on them and have more of a "lobster" taste.
Their Lobster Rolls are stuffed with lobster meat. Mmmmm! Fresh lobster and no mayonaise.
The manager should be complimented on choosing and overseeing his staff. Our waiter Zane, the chef who is excellent, the cleaning staff who maintained a spotless Ladies Room. Every part of this restaurant made you glad you chose this establishment. Please note we chose Kennebec Tavern 3 times, and received excellent food and service all 3 times.

“Haddock Ruben - must try!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013 via mobile

This restaurant is centrally located with good water view. But we are more interested in the quality of the food so I can highly recommend a particular dish here.. The haddock Ruben was excellent!! the service here was extraordinarily friendly and prompt. Reasonable prices, good portions and family friendly. I would not recommend this for a romantic dinner, but for a quick lunch or casual dinner and good selection - it's first rate. Easy to find and convenient parking. (For anyone staying at the Hampton Inn Bath across the street, this is a no brainier - must do restaurant!)

“Surprising good for a waterfront restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 9, 2013

Usually those waterfront restaurants rely on their view and don't concentrate on their food. So we were quite surprised to find great food and reasonably priced lunch here I had the fried clams (delicious and perfectly done) and my wife had the Haddock Ruben sandwich -- another steller choice -- we hit the daily double that day for lunch. Wait staff was all young college girls and they did a fine job. Definitely would go back here again!
