Owner description: Awarded Yankee Magazine's "Best Island Tour," we are the Bar Harbor area's favorite boat cruise and a family owned business now in our 22nd year. Operating out of Bass Harbor to the islands of Blue Hill Bay, we offer exclusive access to what many consider one of the most beautiful parts of the Maine coast, as well as its prettiest harbor. Being off the beaten path, our formula for success is offering the highest quality experience at some of the lowest rates on Mount Desert Island. Try out our 11:00-2:30 Lunch Cruise to Frenchboro; established in 1820 and one of the last year round island fishing communities in Maine, Frenchboro is a place that many people find hard to believe still exists in our busy, high-tech world. Or, join us for the 3:00-5:00 Nature Cruise, where you'll see seals, bald eagles, and even haul a lobster trap or two. We cherish your business and our many return customers, and you'll find that it shows from start to finish.

We had an uncommonly warm and sunny day so a big plus for the scenery upfront. The Captain always turned the boat so everyone got a view. His knowledge of the history and of the area and insight into lobster fishing was fascinating. He pulled a lobster trap near the end that made our day/great with young children and at $25 you could not beat the price

The boat was small but perfect to cruise around the harbors and islands of Mt. Desert. The speaker was great, filled with interesting facts about Maine and lobsters. He brought a filled lobster trap on board and showed us the nitty gritty details. Beautiful scenery, saw lots of seals. A fun few hours in Maine.

This trip was far and away the highlight of my week on Mt. Desert Island. Not only did we see seals, several bald-eagles and tons of sea birds, we even got to see them haul up a lobster trap! The visit to Frenchboro for lunch was enjoyable (although I'm probably biased since we were there during the once a year lobster festival.) The best part about the trip, however, was the captain's knowledge of the area and its history. He discussed the history of the Maine islands, industry on those islands, present day island and mainland culture as well as telling us all about the lobster industry, and he was always happy to answer questions. I cannot stress enough how wonderful this trip was, and I would recommend it everyone who is vacationing on Mt. Desert Island.

This was an excellent way to see wildlife and learn the history of Maine lobstering. We saw seals, eagles and the Bass Harbor Light. The captain was very informative on history. He even pulled up a lobster trap to show us how it works.

We enjoyed Frenchboro. It had a nice little shop and offered gorgeous views.

I was impressed that our captain made sure that both sides of the boat saw all the sites. This meant that anywhere you sat you got a good view. It was a good value and a great day. Highly recommended and off the beaten path. Bring a jacket for the breezy part of the trip and you'll have a perfect trip.

We took the most amazing tour today. Island Cruises, out of Bass Harbor, Maine offers a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn about the wildlife, the islands of Maine, the lobster industry and all on a modest boat that's open air and without frills. Captain Eli was knowledgeable about lobster fishing and even pulled in a trap and taught us all about which lobsters reach our table and which ones do not. We saw Maine birds, seals basking on rocks, and a salmon farm. This is about a 2 hour cruise and getting to Bass Harbor is one of the benefits of taking this cruise. The view from the coastal roads in Acadia Park in Maine are among the most beautiful in the world. But back to the cruise. We paid $25/person for this cruise...much less than the ones out of Bar Harbor. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Captain Eli and his crew. You won't be disappointed.

Oh....they do a lunch cruise, too. We took the 3 - 5 PM afternoon cruise. Check out both of 'em.
