The taco stand in brewer and restaurant in Bangor have always been good. Have a combo plate and a Dos equip and your mood will improve guaranteed.

“Consistently great food.”
Reviewed April 1, 2014

I have been eating at Pepino's since they first opened on High St- and I can only say that it tastes just as good now as it did then (approx. 40 years). Service is always solid, and the price for combo platters has been great for years. I've eaten Mexican food in Texas, Arizona, California, and Mexico- and I still love Pepino's. Great salsa, as well as the red and green hot sauce, compliment the meal. They also have a full bar and outdoor seating in the Summer. Great atmosphere, music is at just the right level so you can have a conversation. I probably eat here once a month. Enjoy.

“Pepino's is the best”
Reviewed January 31, 2014

Pepino's is our favorite restaurant. It's not like the big-box places. The food is very consistent and the wait staff has stayed there for years. The prices are VERY reasonable and the drinks are generous. We are locals and we go there once a week.

Simple, casual, and a great value! You won't be disappointed.

“Awful”
Reviewed October 9, 2013

The place is cute, the servers are nice and that's the only good thing I can say. We went there hoping to enjoy some Mexican food, which is lacking sadly in Maine; I lived in Phoenix for 15 years, so I know Mexican food. Store bought chips, which is very annoying because it's so simple and inexpensive to fry your own... salsa from a jar. Beer that was only sort of cold. A "cheese crisp" (which may not be authentic, but is very popular in Phoenix) was a tiny round corn tortilla topped with barely melted cheese. We left after this and didn't order an entree because there was no hope of it being decent. Very sad.

“Worst Mexican east of the International date line”
Reviewed July 2, 2013

One star is three quarters of a star too many. I have been going to Pepinos off and on for 20 years hoping for something new, but the menu has never changed. What has changed is the food. With each visit it gets worse and I swear I will never go there again, only going this time because of a gift certificate. The food is bland and soggy. They don't use any cilantro anymore, bland, bland, bland. On previous visits at least the salsa had a kick, but now it is so mild it doesn't even have as much kick as a vodka sauce. YUCK, YUCK, YUCK. Last nights salsa fresca was very unpleasant with almost no jalapeño to speak of, just tomatoes, chopped onions and 4 microscopic pieces of jalapeño, no spice, no zip. The standard salsa tasted like vomit.
