We arrived in Bangor in the late evening, and were looking for something to do. We had seen The Sports Arena on TripAdvisor and thought it might be a good way to spend our evening, after a full day of driving.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a well-lit (this was approximately 10pm), very well-maintained mini golf course.
Inside the building, we found the arcade and bowling alley. Rather than using old-school tokens and tickets, they have a swipe card that you can put money on to play the wide range of arcade games, and it keeps track of your earned points to buy prizes. A very convenient way to play! Would be great for parents that want to set a budget for how much to spend.
The bowling alley had their evening glow bowling, but it seemed a bit dark, even for glow bowling. The alleys were well taken care of and in good repair. They also had options to play a single game, or play for a full evening which was a nice option.
For adults looking for an enjoyable, but affordable evening out, The Sports Arena has two bars -- one in the bowling alley, and another was a sports bar, in the arcade area. The building was quite busy, however, we didn't find it too crowded and difficult to get around.
After spending a couple hours there, we grabbed a couple of slices of pizza to go from the attached pizza parlor. We would definitely visit again, and would recommend it for couples, friends or families alike!
