“Step, or rather, drive into the past!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

If you want your kids or grand kids to see how transportation has changed this is a wonderful place to visit. It takes hours to see all the collected items, from rail to truck to sled and much, much more. A WWII exhibit, a recreated village post office and so many small items from the past are sure to spark memories. School classes often go there to speak first hand with veterans of several wars, or listen to docents explain how the vehicles were used. Don't miss it! I am a grandmother and saw artifacts from my grandmother's day!

“Good choice for a rainy day”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Excellent collection that children and adults can enjoy together. I had taken my class there on field trips but also visited with family members and friends visiting the area.

“Great Fun for the Whole Family”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

I've toured the museum and it is packed with an incredible assortment of vehicles, from the 19th century to the present. It's both educational and fun. Their most unusual exhibit, in my opinion, is a complete locomotive with cars and a caboose, INSIDE THE BUILDING! I would highly recommend a trip to the Cole Land Transportation Museum. You won't be disappointed.

“A must see in Bangor”
Reviewed July 23, 2013

We stopped in here on a very rainy day because we needed something to do. The travel brochures do not do this collection of vehicles and other memorabilia justice! We spent a good three hours reading about the history of everything from snow plows to trains - horse-drawn sleighs to full-sized delivery trucks! They even have children's toy wagons, doll baby carriages, and sleds. There is also a nice collection of US Military uniforms and vehicles. Outside there are memorials to the Mainers who served in WWII, the Vietname War, and the Korean War. We even met Galen Cole, the founder and inspiration behind this wonderful museum. He was so pleased to see us and mentioned that he gets a lot more people from out of state than he does from Maine! It is a shame the locals don't realize what a gem they have in their own backyard.
