I always take in the local cemeteries when I am in a new state. This one is a unique example of the early garden cemetery. It is on a hilly part of the town and I thought it made for a great photo opportunity. Some interesting stones here and some interesting epithaphs. A nice side trip for any taphophile.

beautifully kept and peaceful, this spot is more Garden than Cemetery, and we would have loved to walk it a bit more but the heat of the day was on us. We were able to see the ducks and the monuments to the American fallen soldiers.

The second garden cemetery in the US, this is a beautiful place to spend a day. The local historical society gives walking tours in the summertime.

Mount Hope was on our Bangor tour schedule and what a great, beautiful and peaceful place to visit. The grounds are very well kept and the stones, statues and monuments are maintained promoting a very peaceful resting place for the many people buried there.
