“Quaint little place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 11, 2013

A bit off the "strip" in Bangor, This eatery was pleasant, clean and the staff was helpful and attentive. We decided to stick with a couple of drinks after looking at the menu. A little pricey for our taste. A newly renovated area, you need to enter through the courtyard area.

“Wonderful Find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2013 via mobile

We were at a conference in Bangor and at a loss for where to eat. A friend recommended Fiddleheads and wow we're we glad! The service was great and all our meals were wonderful. I had the lamb shanks which were done to perfection. A definite must when in the area.

“What is the hype on this place?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 16, 2013 via mobile

My husband and I made reservations here over a month in advance for a special occasion for four. We were lead to a very small table that could hardly hold our drinks and plates. As we were looking over the drink menu one of our guest was reprimanded for bending the menu a little more than 180 degrees! The staff and owner believe this place is something this side of paradise. The food is mediocre, our appetizers were tasteless and steaks were riddled with gristle and raw. This restaurant says it is the "best in Bangor" - I don't think so! I know every restaurant has it's bad night, but it is the attitude here that really makes you uncomfortable and dares you to complain. Save your $$$ and go elsewhere.

“Success Turned to Failure”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2013

Arguably the food at the Fiddlehead Restaurant is the best in Bangor, but this is hardly an achievement in a city that has few good restaurants. It is also the most expensive. This said, we have dined at the Fiddlehead before and while the food is good, it is not exceptional.
Last weekend we made a reservation for 7PM. We were 15 minutes late. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted by an aggressive pre-emptive salvo from the owner/hostess that the policy of the restaurant is to give away reserved tables when people are late by 15 minutes or more. The owner/hostess declared that we were 20 minutes late, but we checked our cell phone and it said 7:15. We were supposedly told about this when making the reservation, again we checked the phone message confirmation and there was no mention of this policy, but we agree that the policy is reasonable. Putting aside that the table was obviously given away before the allowed 15 minutes as it was gone when we arrived, the aggressive, angry, dismissive attitude of the owner is inexcusable. After hearing her tirade, and sharing our perspective, we simply left the premises.
If you want to eat at the Fiddlehead Restaurant, you obviously must arrive on time. Also, you must decide whether you want to patronize an arrogant, rude, totally un-customer-service-focused and overly self-assured prima donna who is the bully of her small scene. I would advise you to spend your money on a worthier cause.

Excellent food, fantastic cocktails and desserts to die for. Be adventurous and ask your server for their favorite drink, favorite food, favorite dessert. Awesome.
