“WARNING - Avoid the "Fisherman's stew or pie or something"”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2014

We have enjoyed many meals at the Sea Dog. The so caled Fishermans something was awful. My wife and I both agreed it was the worst entree we have ever been served anyplace. The server willingly replaced it with another dish. The dish itself was composed of small little chunks of what was supposed to be seafood. The haddock was a couple of finger tip sized pieces. The Maine shrimp of course were non existent because there is no shrimp season this year. The alleged fresh crab was only identifiable by the bright red of fake crab. What was supposed to be scallops was not identifiable. There were tiny 3/8 cube of potato and other vegetables. The described sauce of heavy cream turned out to be a grayish very garlicky slop. The described ring of mashed potatoes was non-existent. Why such a good place would put out such an awful entree is beyond out imagination. Crudly speaking it looked like vomit in a dish.

We had an amazing breakfast before our flight! Lobster omelet
Fresh seafood for breakfast was a first and it was delicious. Friendly staff as well. I highly recommend sea dog. Great homemade beer also. We will be back.

As always, the food, atmosphere, staff and drinks were very good. Seemingly can always depend on Sea Dog.

“Don't come here on Tuesday night, or any night!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 27, 2013

My wife and I, and four other people were there last night trying to have a good time since Tuesday night was "Trivia Night." Well, we didn't have a good experience at all. When you play trivia, you are supposed to ask the same question to everyone playing at the same time so that no one has an unfair advantage. What happened was the guy that was running the trivia (I don't even think he was employed by the Sea Dog) went to each table individually so other teams would be able to look up answers on their phones. That is not how trivia should be administered. There needs to be a microphone and a speaker that is in a designated area of the restaurant so everyone can hear and play at the same time instead of this going around to different tables crap. We got kicked out last night for being a little loud, but that's how trivia is supposed to be. You are supposed to have fun with it, and it's not supposed to be too serious of a game. Some woman told on us last night that we weren't being too serious, and just because of one woman's opinion we got kicked out of the restaurant when we weren't even doing anything out of the ordinary. They need to have someone that is associated with the Sea Dog to administer the trivia on Tuesday nights, and for it to be fun, and exciting, and not dull, and boring like it was for us last night. I ended up ordering nachos last night, and they didn't even put a lot of cheese and sour cream on them. There was one little spoonful of sour cream in the middle, and that was it. The portion size was big, but when you don't put a lot of toppings on them that is a shame. We will not be going to the Sea Dog again, and we go there at least once a week and have never had a problem until now. I hope other people will read this and not want to go here. Save your money and go somewhere else to eat. There's tons of better restaurants in Bangor that are better than the Sea Dog.

“Fresh fish and nice view”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2013

We stopped for lunch on a chilly, rainy day, otherwise sitting outside would have been a pleasure. We did have a table by the window which provided us with a good view of the river. We had haddock - fish and chips and soft taco. The fish was fresh, nicely prepared and tasty. My only complaint was my server gave me blue cheese dressing instead of tartar sauce… the taste of the fish improved as soon as the error was corrected. We both had the Old Gollywobbler Brown Ale which was very good.
