Priory Lodge Guest House
Reviewed September 6, 2009

We went over for the Tattoo and if we had booked accomodation early in the year we would not have found this gem of a guesthouse. Sth Queensferry is a lovely place and can be very relaxing after the bustle of the city. Priory Lodge is superb. The room was great with a 4-poster bed and things like cd player, umbrella and sewing kit all provided. The tv was at eye-level too!! Breakfast was delicious with a variety of things to chose from. Transport to the city was easy with the bus stop outside the gate. Calmyn and Gordon are lovely, friendly people and we would recommend Priory lodge to anyone heading to the Edinburgh area.

The Priory Lodge is a gem amongst bed and breakfast places; the hosts are professional, friendly and very helpful with local information and advice about the region.
We have stayed there many times and will continue to do so.. the rooms are lovely with all thinkable amenities.. hairdryer, iron and ironing board, umbrella, fridge, clothesbrush, CD player, emergency kit, toiletries, you name it.. they have thought of it! For people who haven't brought their computers with them, there is a computer available. Likewise, if guests wish to use the kitchen, they may do so.

The location in the village of South Queensferry does not have seaviews but this should in no way deter people from staying there; the historic village is literally 1 minute away and Edinburgh airport is a 10minute drive. The centre of Edinburgh can be reached by train or by car within 20 minutes, St Andrews is only 35 minutes away.. how more central can you get?

The breakfast selection is extensive and it all tastes marvellous, particularly the full Scottish Breakfast with black pudding.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Priory Lodge and its hosts, Calmyn and Gordon Lamb.

Our stay at this lodge was the best value for money of all our accomodation over our 6 week tour of UK, Ireland. The hosts were very friendly and obliging and their breakfasts were more interesting than just the usual English cooked breakfast (salmon, crepes for example).

Very Nice Bed & Breakfast!! The hotel is located in South Queenferry, outside Edinburgh but it's perfect to relax after a long journey visit in Edinburgh. Very good comunications with Edinburgh city; there's a bus stop just outside the hotel and in 20min. you are in the city center.
South Queenferry village offers good restaurants to taste scotish seafood and also a very nice view from the pier to the "Firth of Forth", with 2 Amazing Bridges (Evening time is lovely!!) Follow the restaurants suggestion from the B&B owner!!!
The B&B is so nice... Warmly people, very good breakfast ( I love their french toasts!!) and big beautiful rooms... It's a good choice if you are thinking to visit Edinburgh!

My 5th stay, and it really does just get better and better.
Calmyn and Gordon are superb hosts, and the breakfast is astonishing. Beautifully kept rooms add to the quality, and it has to be the BEST B & B for Edinburgh and area.

Simply magnificent !!!

we spent two nights at the priory with our friends and had a great weekend you do not need to take anything with you they have catered for everything even an umbrella in the room.
the bus stops right outside the door it costs £3.60 return and stops on princes street.
the couple who own the priory are very helpfull and friendly and the breakfast is brillient..
we will certainly return.

We stayed at Priory Lodge for three nights with another couple and we were really impressed by the rooms size and the amenities and details: CDs, Iron, etc.
The owners are very kind and helpful and made us laugh a lot!
The breakfast was good and tasting but we didn't like the fact that we had to choose the nigth before what we would to eat: we would like to have a choice in the morning. However, there was a large choice of cereals, fruits, cheeses, besides the main course.
We also loved the location, in South Quensferry, near to the Forth Bridge (amazing!!!!!) and to several good restaurants.
We highly recommend it.
