“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2013

Stayed here numerous times and never been disappointed. Staff are fantastic. Nothing seems to be too much bother. We have had dietary requirements which have led to us requesting items that deviate from the menus and all requests have been met without any fuss. As frequent hotel visitors this is one of the best in the area in our opinion. Only 10 mins on the train from Edinburgh so not too far from the city centre. Definitely feels like a treat. Excellent restaurants in South Queensferry add to this experience.

we stayed here 16th nov for 1 night b&b. very very good. the hotel very well decorated. the staff very friendly and helpful. food and cocktails excellent. the lighting is low and that is great and very effective. who needs bright lights anyway? comfy bed, couches and chairs. excellent breakfast. great times for eating no need to get up early or rush.

Room Tip: if you can choose probably a sea view might be nicer than the main road. the road and airport are ne...

I booked via Booking.com and despite it looking like I had a B&B rate, I nearly died of heart failure when I got the bill at check out. In no way at all is the breakfast worth £12.95 (cooked option).

On the plus side, they serve Gluten Free bread. On the downside, the coffee at breakfast is just TERRIBLE oh dear, really it's unforgivable to serve such week and tasteless brown water, but they did at least remember on the second day so I got given a specially brewed cup!

I used to stay here a lot 6 years ago, and had forgotten that they don't have an option of a bath rather than the excellent shower, which was a shame.

I think dinner is over priced and the menu is good but very limited - more than 3 nights would be too much, you'd have to eat everything they offer.

But it was a nice stay, at a nice hotel, its more that this is a "could very easily be so much better"

Room Tip: Try for the side facing away from the motorway if you want to open the window

Stayed here with my partner for 2 nights and cannot fault it. Rooms were excellent with comfy bed / large TV and free wifi. Breakfast was fantastic with something for everyone and very tasty. Location is approx 20 mins drive into Edinburgh which was gone for us as we would rather have a quiet hotel with free parking than a city centre location.

The receptionist was wonderful & super friendly. The room was great size but very dark, very hard to do make up as I had to run from bathroom to bedroom a few times. The plus was the food, cocktails & breakfast was fantastic. The service was swift & great customer service. The downsize was that the room was very very cold, I couldn't sleep due to the room being too cold, I had to call the reception to ask them to bring extra heater but it returns out that they " accidently" turned off the heater in our room, so unfortunately I slept badly on the 1 st night. To make sure I don't get the repeat situation, I asked for extra duvet & heater which they did provide immediately. So manage to get a bit better sleep on my 2 night. The hotel was nice enough but shame that the rooms was cold.

Entering a dark foyer through some curtains was a bizarre experience like entering a lap dancing bar (apparently!). The reception staff were friendly and did a really good job at check in and check out and the decor was more and stylish. Tick for the comfy bed and a great power shower and a decent enough breakfast. Only downside was the noise of a generator/jumbo jet that kicked off at 5.30 a.m. So a mark knocked off for that. On the whole did a job.

This hotel seems to have made a design feature of poor lighting in the public rooms and the bedrooms. It's permanent night in the Reception and Lounge: they even had night lights lit during the day. It felt weird coming from glorious sunshine outside into the gloom of Reception.

The bedroom was a good size with wifi and bottled water included. But poor lighting! Needed a torch to read the air conditioning control screen, see in the clothes storage area or read a book.

Returned to the room at 4 pm on day 2 to find it had not been made up despite the "Please Make Up Room" sign having been displayed outside since 9 am.

Very disappointing.
