Ate here during this Royal Highland Show and was never disappointed. Attention to detail was faultless, staff very professional and food varied and excellent. I'd thoroughly recommend this venue.

“Excellent food and service!”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

This was recommended to us by an Edinburgh couple and we were not disappointed! We had not booked a table and were made to feel very welcome. We were given a table 10 minutes after we arrived and meanwhile had a drink in the very atmospheric bar area. The food was superb, fresh, delicious and the staff were a delight. The langoustines are worth travelling miles for, absolutely delicious and the very lovely waitress recommended the Sicilian lemon curd fool for dessert, a total triumph! This is one of the best meals I have ever had. I really enjoyed dining here, the staff were polite, helpful and very friendly. Definitely recommend and to be revisited!

“Excellent Sunday lunch”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

Fathers Day lunch, just dear husband and I as the "children" are all awol.

I had been to Dakota for a business lunch but this was our first Sunday visit and husband's first visit overall.

Excellent menu choices and each selection we made was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Service was spot on and the nice gaps between courses which made for a non rushed lunch

I was impressed by the way the restaurant manager chatted so knowledgeably with us about how they prepared the food and how the beef was cooked. It was nice how he was always was referring back to the chef as the source of the great techniques- nice team work giving credit to those often not seen!

We have often said we would go to Dakota for a meal, it was very popular on Sunday and left us wondering what had taken us so long to go there and why had we not heard more about Dakota

“DBB?!?!”
Reviewed May 12, 2013

Booked dinner bed and breakfast. Was told as we CHECKED OUT that our Dinner allowance was only £20! This was not mentioned when we checked in!! Result was a much larger bill than we had bargained for. £20 would approx cover a starter and sweet!
Also the beds were very hard and in need of replacement. Although website specifies lovely soft beds!! the room was very tired with large, bright red stains on the carpet! Not what we expected at all having stayed here several times before.
Overall, we were disappointed with our stay and not too sure if we would return. Shame. Used to be first class.
